Bill here,
New on the site, from reading some of the stories I guess I'm a lucky one. I have been suffering these damn things since 1998, they only come for me every other year, during the beautiful North East summers. This year, as always, my doctor has loaded me with Tegretol and Depicote...to the point of impotence. It hadn't mattered until now, but this summer I'm with a new, great lady, and I fear this Devil in my head will cause problems, "down below". I will see my doctor today, and hope to solve this "problem". If anyone has a impotence problem from over medication, would you please reply....Thanx...Bill

It's terrible how the SOB like to attack both of our heads. Get a sample of Viagra from your doc. Stay away from fatty foods, booze and pop 100mg an hour before party time. (Damn I wish I didn't know this)

I'm getting to old to give a shit at this point anyway.

You are not the only man to go through this problem. Others have mentioned it off and on through the years. It is not a frequent post but has been mentioned before. Do what you need to for your head and if your lady is as special as she sounds she will understand completly and be your number one supporter. In the mean time you could also explore other options of different meds and see if they all have the same effect on you. Good luck!

Good luck Bill and welcome. I can say for me...Depakote has affected me slightly...but I'm single so it doesn't really matter ya know? I feel your best ammo now...and you might not wanna hear this...but tell your special lady about what's goin on..or does she know already?.Don't "hide " it.......because the Beast could come around and bite you real hard in the ass when you're arund her...and we don't want that do we? Hey can people take that shit with other meds.....always sounded risky to me but then......hey I'm a girl so why am I asking ? Curious I guess but then that kills cats ! Neeever mind..................

Hi Bill and welcome :D sorry your here but we are glad ya found us now get your oar and start rowing hun. LOL
My better half has been on Imitrex injections (for well over 3 yrs) and Depakote for almost a year and never have we had a problem from "down below" Best of luck to ya and let us know what your doc says. Curiousity may have killed the cat but damn satisfaction brough him back. Hehehehe

hello all and thanks for the warm welcome....long story short, it's the Depakote causing a failure in my Libido, I have stopped taking it and am slowly coming back around (back up? ;) )

In most cases this might be a temporary problem until your body has axepted the meds,then you are "fit for fight"again

Viagra can cause a h/a . . might not be the best choice? It also has a smaller window of opportunity . . .
Cialis, is Le Weekend pill . . .gives a 36 hour window, so it allows for more . . .spontineity *g* . . .and is okay with most meds . . .I think there are contraindications for Alpha-Blockers? but the doc will know.
I don't know how much a script is in the US . ..but the docs should have samples *g* . . .and if you're close to Mexico . .they are $12 US

Welcome aboard and sorry you have to deal with this horror. You'll find some good ideas about handling Ch and lots of support.

Just an educated guess but Tegritol alone may be the problem. I've never heard of anyone saying that it was "just great." It's an anti-convulsant as is Depakote that sometimes work. I have taken Depakote and a host of other anti-convulsants for my epilepsy. My neurologist isn't crazy about prescribing some of them and Tegritol is one. It's one of the few I've never taken. Not that many here have used Tegritol. I think it's somewhat out of favor for seizures. Not sure about CH.

Just some thoughts and good luck. Here's hoping it's just a matter of dosage.
