Title: CH inspired Tattoos
Post by Turts on Apr 17th, 2004, 3:27am
Gday,

I have seen a post with the OUCH based tattoos that went on at the last big Convention, however I cant find this link back in the history pages. So if anyone knows the link could you please post it..

This leads me into the following questions:

1.   Has anyone got CH based or inspired tattoos?

2.   Has anyone got a book or webpage address that desribed animals and their links with Celtic Mythology..?

I would like to get three celtic designed animals tattooed up my left forearm, but I cant find information on what animal had what meaning.  e.g. boars represent strength.

3. Any ideas on the symbols that would help describe the battle with CH?

I was thinking Strength, health, family for example.

Page 3 and 4 have most of the tatts.
I'm not sure why clusterheadaches would be INSPIRING in any way though, LOL.  I think most of these were inspired by OUCH :)

Good luck in your descision Turts.  I know of another person that would like to get a tatt at the convention...if anyone's keepin count on requests.

Heck, if they had someone doing tat's at the Nashville Convention (who's gotta be safe & good), I'll get a small OUCH one done myself.  This is odd for me because I am very picky about who will give me a tattoo....

I've lived so far tatooless.  Other than fun, I've not had anything I've felt a lifelong commitment to that would inspire a tatoo but OUCH and this family is getting to me.  You all are giving me ideas for branding a lifelong permanent attachment...somewhere.

if I can ever afford to get inked, I want to get the OUCH logo on my fist!
My family thinks I am insane (they know me well) because I keep my head shaved and want to get a tattoo of a crack in the side of my head with a red eyed green demon looking out from the crack. Would be a conversational piece to say the least. Thinking maybe the beast from "Jeepers Creepers" would be cool.
I hear that once you are inked, it is like a drug. You can't seem to get enough tatt's. I don't think that is true though - do you Jonny?

Get Cerebus to draw you up an ouch incorporated into your current tatt!
Cereb is GREAT at that, he did my mushroom with the frog...and incorporated OUCH into the mushroom.  I love it!!!

Thanks for the links guys.
It looks like it would have been a blast at convention, with a tattooist on hand.

Ive bought Cerebus artwork and would love him to design an original  tattoo for me, he really has a gift.

I already have a tattoo of Ned Kelly ( you may have seen the movie by the same name starring Heath Ledger). I want to get the Eureka Stockade flag tattooed next to it.

But I plan on getting celtic art because of its intricacy and beauty. It is very deep in meaning and heritage

i thought of three designs interwinding together as it runs down my arm. I would then have the OUCH logo reversed out in the design.
Just need to ensure the animals I get dont mean that im a good luck leaprecaun or something

Well I suppose I might as well expose myself while you are all praising my work so much (You are all waaay to generous with your praise btw).

my drawing skills are a direct result of my desire to airbrush, therefore, I have been known to paint on just about any surface that I could prepare for paint. so far I have done: Guitars, license plates, t-shirts (although I really don't like to do shirts), Canvas panels, Illustration board (Cold compress), walls (smooth), and have a couple of things working that I cant reveal here....hehe.... anyway the medium is open, if it has a smooth surface and will take paint it can be airbrushed. my drawings are mostly limited to paper, although I have been working virtualy with PSP7 on one project. and recently have done some tattoo flash, obviously....

So thats my story and I'm stickin to it.

I'm open to any suggestions... Maybe i'll ask Cereb to draw me something one day... The OUCH logo with some flames maybe...

BTW your tatt is cool... explain the sens to me pleaaase... for the mushromm i got an idea but for the frog no clue... Here in Quebec the ROC (Rest Of Canada) tenderly call us "Frogs" but I'm sure that's not related... ;;D

Cootie, I bookmarked that link, I find the reading & tats quite interesting.  Thanks for sharing it!

Mast, I want any tattoo's I have to be visible where I can see them without taking clothes off or twisting myself into a pretzel, LOL.  So I'm thinking about a small OUCH on my chest, probably incorporated with something else, which I am still searching for.  I do have to go get 2 more tattoo's of my kids names and I was thinking about foreign languages, but you really can't translate Eli's, LOL!  I think I'm gonna have to just get their names written into something else also.  Anyhow, I know I definately don't want to have a tattoo that everyone else has, so I gotta be creative.  Plus, it has to really mean something to me so much so that it spreads throughout my soul.  Too insightful? maybe....

It seems 'most' people have there tatt's in desreet places so they can hide them easily at work or where ever......I know people that would be fired if there bosses knew of there tatts or if they were visible at work.....or be shunned in public places before they got to make some sort of impression personality wise.  I have an entire arm....back and opposite leg done.....mostly ALL celtic blackwork with white tigers blended in and also a Occicat wild cat face for a vanity belt in back with all celtic on both sides like a belt. Always loved the artwork detail'd meaning of tatt's but have learned thru the years it's not seen that way thru most other people's eyes. I get snubbed or stared at.....people grab there kids in stores. Pisses me off......I could have one leg and one eye and never take a bath and get the same sort of reaction. It's taught me alot about people. Tatts are cool......used to be you got them as life expireinces....sort of life's story you have to tell. Liveing canvas Pam

Dam it Ramon.....if you lived closer we'd have you do some work on our bike after havein it painted this year.....the young guy that was to do it was killed this winter.....he spent his life doing the wrong things at the wrong time.

Both my tatts mean the world to me.  My Burmese Python is around my ankle, his name was Ganja :)  I took in about 40 pics of him to the tattoo dude.  The dude did a GREAT job, I love it!  Got that when I was 19.
The shroom on my shoulder symbolizes a possible "cure" someday...and of course the OUCH incorporated in the shroom.  The frog means nothing except that he's cute up there.  I didn't want the shroom all alone.

Coot...I only know what you mean in a small sense...when I got the snake done around my ankle I was wearing sandles to work and a Client bitched to my employer about it!!  The NERVE!!  I work in a vet clinic.  Course that was about 12 years ago...

Mel...RiverRatNormLee's wife got her son's name put on her ankle in a heart!!  It was very sweet.  Might think bout that...course the ankle HURTS!!!!  lmao

Some freinds of mine got blackwork....celtic style.....done around there arm as an arm band (not all have to go all the way around....personal prefernce there) and they had cool round gems incororated into them that are there kids birthstone colors. The gems look totally REAL too. Others have feathers hanging off a blackwork armband or worked in with there kids names set into the detail of the feather and each one a birthstone color. They turned out awesome and you can get barb wire blackwork or leatherband look blackwork with thin straps hanging drawn in. Very real look ! Jus some ideas to throw at ya !!! Pam the colorful coot

Yeah Mast you should see the shit I go thru sometimes.....frankly I consider my tatts SNOB illiminators. Type of people that judge me by my style or look or anyones for that matter aren't my type anyhow.....so it all works out.

PS: Here's a link to tons of thumbnail pics of all sorts of tatts includeing armbands and celtic and tribal work.....several pages.....weed thru the ones ya don't like cuz there are some NICE ones on here. The blackwork with roses or butterflies or gems 'blended in' are KICK ASS KEWL !

I have a tribal/celtic dragon between my shoulder blades on my upper back.  Depending on the shirt I wear you can just see the tip of the flames that are around it.   I was done Jan of 2000 and I really want to get another, but each time we get the extra cash for a tat, my husband uses it  ;)...

Like Cootie said, there are a lot of people that freak about tats and I had to remove my tongue ring for my last job because it was not professional.  They said that it effected my speech.  But could not come up with am answer regarding would they refuse to hire someone with a speech impairment?  Anyway, I would love to have my tat be more visable but in my line of work it is not realistic.

Good luck, Turts... I love celtic art. Even had my wedding band designed in celtic knot work. And the friend who made them for us destroyed the mold so that they will be one of a kind...  err well two of a kind.  ;;D

another thought about tatts-

We the inked
I am one of the inked,
I allow my soul to be worn upon my sleeves,
Judge me fair,
or judge me harsh,
judge me as you please
For we the inked,
need not words,
our bodies symbolize what some
believe should be marvelled at,
while other choose to despise
Alas, we the inked are the power and grace,
to shock or hypnotize without a word we say so much,
our visions epitomized.
