Title: Love is Like Oxygen
Post by HypnoticFreddy on Apr 13th, 2004, 10:35pm
I am listening to a song from the 70's called, "Love is like Oxygen", by Sweet?

lyrics,

"Love is like oxygen,
you get too much it makes you high,
not enough and you're gonna die...

This must have come up in a thread.

With my little experience, I never felt "high" on oxygen, however, I certainly felt like I was gonna die!!

Never got high on O2 either and there were at least a few times I wished I would die.

Maybe this could be the official CH.com theme song that plays everytime you log on  :D

Someone once told me that O2 masks were used on airplanes b/c it makes the passengers euphoric and thus less likely to panic???

I've never felt this, but maybe it's because our brains are in 'need' of it during an attack. Would have to try it without a CH.

Yeah haven't y'all heard of oxygen bars in chic cities like San Francisco and Toronto?

Even flavored oxygen?!??!

What does this do?? I mean Amsterdam has cafes, we all know. All cities and towns have coffee and tea cafes, but oxygen bars?!?!

I remember in David Lynch's movie Blue Velvet, Dennis Hopper kept taking hits off of oxygen tanks. Way too bizaaro of a movie. I guess it's why I like it.

And yes, the song could be a great theme song for this website, except we need a modern version.

From all I read here about the 02... I think after so long in pain, or the shadows or just the dread of it's return that we know is coming...to be PF is in itself the high...

Try this:

Clusterheads like Oxygen
It helps the pain's the reason why
Without it some think they'd die
This ain't no lie

Clusterheads like oxygen
We keep a tank by where we lie
Helps the pain that's behind the eye
Give it a try

Pretty good Gator,

I am a keyboardist. Perhaps we could collaborate and write songs and then tour around to all the headache clinics around the world to spread our headache-inspired music.

Sounds cool, but we'd have to come up with a real Head Banging signature song   [smiley=headbanger.gif]

Something like ( to the tune of Metal Health)

Bang Your Head!
The beast he makes it hurt so bad
Bang your head!
Cluster Headache drives you mad

I can see it now!

Coming to a headache clinic near you.

HFG and the Bangers!!!

There is a VERY famous pyschiatrist at John Hopkins named Kay Jamisen. She has published extensively. Mostly in regards to manic depression. However, she has written several books for lay persons avout bipolar, suicide, and even an autobiograpy. She, herself suffers from major manic depression.

A brave soul to say the least, when you have published over 500 papers, taught at Oxford, etc.

Well, one really cool thing she did was the following.

As many of  you know. Many musical composers, like Schubert and Mozart, and others I can't think of now, sufferred from severe mental illness (most were nort diagnosed at the time because it was not known what it was). Well, Kay and her love of music, started a musical tour where a symphony was put together that played music from all of these sick composers. It was spomsered by mental illness societies, and it raised money, etc.

The cool thing about it was that it focused on the music of the madness that these composers were going through.  I would love to hear one of the concerts.

So....If we could find some CH composers, or even chronic headache sufferers-musicians and aggregate their music, I think that would be cool.

I have synthsizers and such, and with a few tweaks of dials and knobs, I could simulate a song(s) that represents what a CH might sound like.

Scott,
I'm hard pressed to even begin to imagine what a CH would sound like. And if it could be even approximated, I doubt the non-cclusterhead community would be ready for it.

Scott . . .D writes poetry . . .and when he writes with h/a it's soooooooooooooo painful . .and he says he's 'banging on my keys' . . he never knows what's going to come out . . .I can tell what's been happening by reading what he has written . . . the beast comes out in the keys . . .maybe he can join your tour?

(this time around, he wasn't able to sit at the puter . . .and so far, he doesn't want to . .. but we have TONS of stuff *g*)

All kidding aside (yeah right, who am I kidding ;;D) No seriously, (I got to quit talking to myself while I'm posting) in theory it might not be a bad plan.  The problem would be researching who had/has ch.  I mean if some doctors don't know about it and neurologists aren't up on the subject, a lot of the composers/musicians nowadays are probably being told their pain is on account of the stress, drugs, alcohol, etc, etc ad nauseum.  With the dead and gone ones, the longer gone the less likely to find any proof they had ch.  They would just be written off as mental.

Might be worth spending some spare time on.

Would definitely give a new meaning to "Head Bangers Ball!!!"

I saw a headache specialist today and he gave me some samples of Zomig Nasla Spray.  Tried it for the first and second times today and only have this to say:

With just one spray
Now I'm a believer
The second spray
No doubt in my mind

It stopped the beast
ooooh oooh I'm a believer
I wouldn't leave here without mine
