:Very few headaches “show up” on brain MRI scans. There is much to be seen and found in the high stress zone of the neck, however, and this area should be evaluated in detail and treated aggressively in anyone with chronic or recurrent headaches. Even patients with true migraines or cluster headaches will eventually also often end up with compounding cervicogenic headaches, because of the severe stress of the original headache in the first place. One headache is bad enough. No one needs two types to suffer under. :           What do you think? My neck does seem to be a big part in my "headache time". How bout' some of you?

Is that what you REALLY think? If so,my fellow cluster-shark(lol), I guess I will have to do it. I see jonny has ouch tattoed in his arm so that must mean he been where I am today.... right? If you people think I really,really should get this mri done,I fucking will!!!  But you better be goddamn here for me if something was to show up on this frightenig test,for me anyway. Im callin my doc in morning(well wife is). signed, still an a$$hole   ;;D

Reese,

Stop whining about it and get the damn MRI.  The only thing that can come out of it is good news.  Think about it, either you're going to find out that absultely nothing is abnormal (99.99999% probability) or they are going to find something and begin treating it.  Either way, you are better off than sitting there worrying over what is probably nothing.

You can even show up drunk.  Alcohol doesn't affect an MRI.

i know Im whining like a lil homo ass bitch(?)   [smiley=laugh.gif] BUT i am afraid that some shit is causing my h/a's because they seem to differ than everybody elses(going by online descriptions). Let me tell you I am scared shitless of finding out after 6 years of pain that it was slow-growing and operatable IF i had gotten an mri sooner,but, the fuckup that I am,waited and now my family loses "the man".

Are you saying you don't think you have CH?
Don't go by online descriptions, because bluntly there will be a proportion of people on here describing headaches that AREN'T Cluster headaches at all.

Read up the literature on the site, get your MRI done, and talk to a good neuro.

AND if there is something more sinister happening in your brain and you don't get it it checked your family will never forgive you after you die.

Reese,

You could simply pay some dolt $5 on the street to look at your head and give you a diagnosis.  That would be about as worthwhile as whining about this here.  The only thing that can help you is a diagnostic test.

Reese, we are here not matter what the outcome is. And if you are a self diagnosis then you better get your ass to a doctor and find out what is causeing the HA, because if it is CH there are treatments that work for a lot of people. And if it is not CH, guess what?????  There are treatments.

hi pubgirl, I will describe todays headache which got me at 9am(in a bath remodel we were doing). I start the day off with a shadow headache,just knew I would get hit early at that point, then around 8:45am I started feeling my shadow turning into a "cluster headache". It just kept rising and rising,very slowly(like a kip point every 5 minutes) until I was sitting in home depot parking lot with a kip 7. Behind my rt. eye hurt,my rt. inner ear hurt,my rt.side neck muscles hurt,rt. squinty eye,rt. sided sore throat,stuffed nostril on rt.side and labored breathing to deal with the pain(only a 7, too). This is my usual headache (cluster) but Ive been having just a shadow for many hours a day PLUS a 7-10 kip every couple of days. To me this sounds unusual.

Does to me too. Clusters come in clusters. Odd, but true.

Do you know what?

I'd go see a neurologist for a diagnosis.

Do these "headaches" wake you out of a sound sleep? If so, the chances of clusters is high. If you can and fight off these things without bouncing off the walls and wanting to destroy things, it's almost certain it isn't a cluster attack.

Get the silly test. These oddball MDs love this because it looks impressive. It's a good idea though and the only thing about these things is that they are incredibly boring.

hey charlie, I can deal with a 7-8 without breaking things,but when a 9 or 10 hit everything in my way while doing my pacing gets kicked or thrown(except the wife and kids) :)  When the boys come around while Im being kicked with a 9-10, somehow I can get a moment of composure and very nicely tell them I have a h/a and to go back downstairs or something(welll kinda composure,you know). Ive always been pretty lucky and have only been awakened by h/a maybe 20x's in last 5 years. My time is almost always when I sit down for the night,basically as soon as I relax. Lately though Ive been getting hit all different times,with beer or without. My old man said to me today to just accept that I get cluster h/a's, I am not sure if I can accept this though.

Reese, if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, then it's a damned duck. But we ain't talking 'bout ducks so get the damned MRI. I do recall people posting about neck pain and elsewhere so that does not sound unique. Let us know how it turns out. Oh yeah, immediately after I had an MRI, I went into remission for about 1 1/2 years, a first for me.
