ok I have to freely admit that I took a muscle relaxer and a pian killer and I'm fairly looped atm. Chucks post got me thinking... so I figured what the hell I will ask. ;;D When I had my daughter, Shaun's grandfather yelled at him because he did not have a son to "Carry on the Family Name." I wanted to know just how he was supposed to pull that off. Does one side shoot girls and the other shoot boys? So if you only want sons, do you tie one off? I am asking for the wisdom of Clusterville to explain.... (Ladies this should be enlightening, or at least entertaining. :o [smiley=laugh.gif]) -Tia |

Post by cootie on Mar 29th, 2004, 6:46pm In sum parts of Africa I believe it is they tend to KILL off the girls cuz they are too much responsibility for the families to be able to handle (cuz they create more mouths to feed). In sum cultures they eat the young if there's too many to be able to take care of......opps.......oh wait a mintue.......I am readin my "Hand guild to raiseing hampsters" booklet and thought it was the National Geographic........never mind. Title: Re: Curiosity got the better of me..... Post by Bob P on Mar 29th, 2004, 7:05pm Boy sperm are fast swimmers but delicate. Girl sperm are bigger, slower and more hardy. If you want a boy you: 1. Have to douch with baking soda to create a more alkyline environment, the boy sperms like that. 2. Stand on your head after sex to help the boy sperms get to the egg before the girl sperms. Needless to say, I have 2 daughters! |

Title: Re: Curiosity got the better of me..... Post by Miklos on Mar 29th, 2004, 9:06pm Actually, there is a less gymnastic solution than that suggested by Bob P. After a mutually satisfactory conclusion for all, have her lay on her stomach for thirty minutes (assuming she was not facing that direction already). Worked for us. We had a son and a daughter, in that order: one over easy and one sunny side up. |

Title: Re: Curiosity got the better of me..... Post by Kevin_M on Mar 29th, 2004, 9:23pm Tia, Of course to be yelled at for having a girl is ridiculous, but does reflect an attitude which has and is among some still. As *pam* related, girls are not the preferred gender at birth some places. The murder of children in India which so shocked the British in 1871, led to a ratio of 972 women to 1000 men. In 1991, science has shifted the figure to 929 females to 1000 males. Lower economic areas have larger shortcomings due to dowrys which can represent five years of household expenses. Gandhi's goal of a nation in which, intellectually, mentally, and spiritually, women would be equivalent to men has not been realized. In China, girls are still sometimes called "Too Many" or "Little Mistake" to reflect their value, and previously were worth even less. Even present official statistics (which understate the problem) suggest a ratio of 117 male births to 100 females - which gives the nation eighty million young men with no hope of marriage. Habits are still built deeply into some nation's fabric. I say YEAH, another girl!!! Hey *pam*, your kitty...what have you been feeding him? His new Sears portrait studio pic is...he's been watching too many MGM movies I think. Got milk? Kevin M |

Title: Re: Curiosity got the better of me..... Post by suzy617 on Mar 30th, 2004, 4:20am Ive heard somewhere that it is the mans chromosomes that decide the sex of the baby. So ya might want to yell at Shaun too. Grandpa is wise. ;) Suzy |

Title: Re: Curiosity got the better of me..... Post by Donna H. on Mar 30th, 2004, 9:39am Actually, Suzy617 is the winner. I have read the same thing in a medical journal. The sperm that penetrates the egg (and usually only one can) determines the sex of the baby. There is an extra chromosome that makes for a boy. Standing on your head does have merit in that it lets the juices flow in the right direction. And so does laying on ones back with pillows under the hips.(see anatomy 101). But don't stop posting......this would make a good book. LOL. |

Title: Re: Curiosity got the better of me..... Post by echo on Mar 30th, 2004, 9:53am You can pretict the sex of the baby during the 8th month. If the mother's panties keep sliding down -- it's a boy. |

Title: Re: Curiosity got the better of me..... Post by Tiannia on Mar 30th, 2004, 10:56am Actually the theory that I heard was that male sperm are like short distant runners, where female sperm are like marathon runners, metaphorically speaking. OK so not to try and say this politically correct as possible, without leaving myself open for all kinds of shit... So if the intercourse is deeper, you have a better chance of having a boy. And if the intercourse is more superficial ;;D then you have a better chance of having a girl. I'm sure this could lead to all kinds of theories about how size matters and such, but .... I will stop there :-X -Tia |
