Title: Quick Outlook Express question Post by pubgirl on Mar 25th, 2004, 7:51pm I have an oddity in Outlook I can't get rid of and need to as it is causing me a security problem. If I receive 2 or more new messages in my Inbox and I read, then delete one, the next one automatically opens and is there on screen. I think this may be how Netsky P infected my system (cleaned up now and all references placed by the virus about Britney Spears tits have gone-sad bastard that wrote it!) even though I have auto-update virus protection as I would never knowingly open any email I am suspicious of. I have checked all the "options' but can't see anything to change to prevent this. Any ideas? Wendy |

Title: Re: Quick Outlook Express question Post by jonny on Mar 25th, 2004, 8:03pm I dont know the answer to your question, Wendy. But I get this every so often and I never signed up for this thing, can anyone tell me why this website is killing viruses before they reach my mail.....(Below) This message has been processed by Brightmail(r) Anti-Virus using Symantec's AntiVirus Technology. application.zip was infected with the malicious virus W32.Netsky.P.dam and has been deleted because the file cannot be cleaned. ...........................jonny |

Title: Re: Quick Outlook Express question Post by Rock_Lobster on Mar 25th, 2004, 8:17pm Wendy, You mean open, as in you double clicked and it created a new window, or do you mean it is open in the preview screen in the bottom of your outlook window? Rock |
||
Title: Re: Quick Outlook Express question Post by Rock_Lobster on Mar 25th, 2004, 8:24pm Oh... think I know what you are talking about. You have a mail open. You click 'delete'. It brings the next one up in the same window. If you happen to be on the last one, it brings up the previous one. Nope. That is a 'feature'. No way to stop it. By the way, for most of the viruses, you need to click on an actual attachment to get infected. That said, some of the little cockbites are getting pretty fucking creative. Every freaking senior citizen on my block is getting infected... 'Mr Lobstah... helppppp!' Rock |

Title: Re: Quick Outlook Express question Post by pubgirl on Mar 25th, 2004, 8:34pm Mr Lobster man That's exactly what I mean! I am now being told that virus writers are managing to put the virus in the email itself rather than just in the attachments. That's why I'm so bothered about this bloody stupid Outlook 'feature'. Do newer editions of Outlook still have this do you know? Wendy P.S. Netsky P bypassed my auto-update Norton anti-virus somehow (NO idea how) and infected over 600 files and created loads of new ones with lovely titles like "Britney Spears cumshots". I do surf the net, but Britney covered in spunk does nothing for me. How pathetic was the git that wrote that virus. |

Title: Re: Quick Outlook Express question Post by Opus on Mar 27th, 2004, 12:47pm Rock, Root is beyond windows, he is even beyond linux. Mozilla is the open source archive of netscape. There is little difference except that netscape has a built in aol messenger and can access Netscape and aol webmail through the mail client. If you like the bleeding edge the newest mozilla beta is out, or for the really bleeding edge get mozilla firefox, firefox doesn't have a mailclient but you can down load it separately.
