Hi everybody, let me bring you up to speed with me. I had an appointment w/ my doc yesterday and I am now on Imitrex 100 mg 's which will help to abort and when I get the surprise attacks the Zomig spray . Well at 4:30 this morning , you all know what I awoke to , anyway I proceeded w/ the Imitrex and splashing the cold water on my face ( which is a bitch but helps me alittle ), no relief 10 mins later sprayed the Zomig spray which is 5 mg. The edge came off instantly but yuck tasted gross and I did gag but the edge did come off. Then the imitrex kicked in. My doc mentioned the 02 and he is looking into it for me today , I have to call him at noon. Well I appreciate everybodys help and wanted to share my Zomig story it being the newest thing and all. I do suggest it for the attacks while you are on the go, in the car in your glove compartment or ladies in your purse , it did do the trick for me just make sure you have tissues with you , it gets a little messy but hey who cares right ? Well let me know if anyone else has tried it...bye for now , Toni 8)

OMG, Toni PLEASE don't mix triptans!!!! You can do a LOT of harm to yourself by doing so. If you have been reading threads on here, you would have seen how dangerous this can be. Hiya Toni,
I was just wonderin if your doctor said to take these 2 triptans together like that?
You might wanna talk to him about mixing triptans if he did...NOT good.

Heheh... I want to buy term life insurance on the people who are on triptans who get more triptan samples from the doc. Could be profitable. Give them some ergot samples too.

I was desperate and did it, I wasnt told to by my doctor but did, and I will not do it again. I did not know.

Ok Mel I read it , I would of experienced something strange by now right ? I am just tired right now , I will mention it to my neuro when I call him. He is going to be upset with me. He did not suggest to take both or did he even imply it was ok to. I just did. I WILL NOT EVER DO IT AGAIN. Now I am scared. I do appreciate your help Mel...and yeah I am lucky.

Read the labels. Do not ignore them.

If it happened hours ago then there is no need to react now... the Trex is gone from your system. (trex half-life is uber-short... a few hours toni)

A funny (pathetically so) tale...
A lad on another board was giving me advice on how to get the most bang for the buck when using I-Trex injections... told me they work best when targeted on a vein... no shit. A vasoconstrictor targeted at your heart. He was preaching that to everyone. They banned his entire ISP range about 10 minutes after that.

Believe me lesson learned. This is all still a learning process for me , I am getting educated but there is still more for me to learn about meds and so forth. (obviously ) . I am working on it. Toni

Now I am a relative newb at all this. Others likely have superior advice on how to handle the mixing of triptans on the morning after. I just follow the science side... the elimination half-life if I-Trex is 2.5 hours... after that period 50% of the I-Trex is gone. After another 2.5 hours 75% is gone... and so on and so forth...

The big Z has a half life just a little longer... about 3 hours.

Yeah pruby, i tried the Zomig Nasal spray months ago, and found it to be less tasteless than Imitrex nasal spray. The Imitrex spray just seems to give me more of a horrible after taste in the back of my throat than the Zomig did. I still use the Imitrex, because it seems to work a little better than the Zomig did, and i also use the Imitrex Injections, BUT NOT AT THE SAME TIME mind you.

I hate to make a joke about something so serious, but whenever I read this, I picture little animated cartoon triptans dancing around singing "Don't mix triptans!".

Anyone remember the old public service announcement cartoon with the medicine bottles warning about how they look like candy but are really like poison?
