Title: Grass Post by CPM on Mar 23rd, 2004, 12:26am No - I have never smoked pot. Probably ‘cause they didn’t make it back home in Sweden where I grew up. When I came here in 79, I couldn’t take 3 steps without running in to it and still have never tried it. Since I smoke one pack a day I’m sure I could figure out how to do it, but would it offer any relief? Even if it wouldn’t, I ‘d vote for legalizing it in a heart beat and use the tax income for medical research. I know of a few cancer patients that swears by it. Somehow I suspect that it has been tried for CH. Pete |

Title: Re: Grass Post by Superpain on Mar 23rd, 2004, 12:43am If you just aren't satisfied with the quality of pain you recieve now, I suggest you try it. Feeling like your headache just doesn't last long enough anymore? Smoke a joint! [smiley=laugh.gif] |

Title: Re: Grass Post by Superpain on Mar 23rd, 2004, 2:35am But what effect does it have on your ch? |

Title: Re: Grass Post by tommyD on Mar 23rd, 2004, 6:50am CPM - A lot of folks say MJ will trigger or worsen an attack, or at least make shadows worse. Some folks say it has no effect on CH. No one, or almost no one, has reported it helps with CH, though some say it's good for relaxing after an attack or to relieve stress in general. It might be nice if it were, but from all reports, it seems cannabis is not an effective CH treatment. There is another illegal drug that is, however. -tommyD |

Title: Re: Grass Post by bubu on Mar 23rd, 2004, 8:39am i smoke only! during off season (out of episode) no alcohol (trigger) no pot (pain intensifier and prolonger) |

Title: Re: Grass Post by Edski_1 on Mar 23rd, 2004, 6:10pm Good weed = no real effect. Bad weed = possible trigger, but basically little to no effect. |

I think that's subjective. I live in Phoenix, and there's plenty of KB available here, but even regular is above average in these parts. And it ALL makes it worse for me... :( |

Title: Re: Grass Post by FZfan on Mar 23rd, 2004, 7:25pm Well, add the sticky icky to the long list of things that are effective for some, have no effect at all, or is harmful to others. Some like to smoke, some don't. Some like to drink, some don't. Some like caffiene, some don't. fungi, o2, imi, zowhatever, the list goes on and on. I like to relax with a few hits, a smoke, and an ice cold mountain dew after an attack. Works for me, probably won't work for most others. Nature of the beast. The more I'm on this board the more I hate that mf, and this is one of the reasons. Can't pin the bastard down on anything. At some point, everyone does what suits them best as they settle in for the long haul, and wait for the magic bullet. Personally, I find the wide variety of experiences, both with the h/a's and the treatments, and with the general struggle to live, thrive, and survive extremely fascinating. I had no idea there were so many differences among CH sufferers until I came here. No wonder it's so damn difficult to treat. Difficult to give advice, too, knowing there's a good chance it won't work for that person. |

Title: Re: Grass Post by Superpain on Mar 23rd, 2004, 8:41pm I've broken down and I'm drinking beer right now (probably very bad), and now just to make sure (or because maybe I'm a masochist) I'm gonna go do an experiment concerning this disscussion (It's been a while)... I will report back later with the results of my little experiment if I am able to pull myself off the bathroom floor, and/or leave the O2 tank long enough to type anything. I'm probably going to be sorry, but I'm gonna have headaches anyway, so... WTF!? |

Title: Re: Grass Post by Superpain on Mar 23rd, 2004, 8:42pm Yesssss... Mt Dew is good shit! ;) |

Title: Re: Grass Post by Mac on Mar 23rd, 2004, 8:58pm I used to think weed triggered a Ch but since I've been using Imitrex I don't sense that pattern. I can still drink beer as well which is a good thing since I play the pubs on weekends. I did notice a drop in the amount of attacks(chronic) and the severity when I stopped smoking tobacco though. Title: Re: Grass Post by Superpain on Mar 23rd, 2004, 9:05pm I've had a heavy shadow most all day. Now I feel a very large hand thats hot in the middle, with big sharp claws, gently holding th left side of my head and bas of my skull. Got my buzz on though. :-/ |

Superpain, Since you're willing to be a CH test dummy, try sniffing those aroma room fresheners. They too will trigger many clusterheads. LOL ::) |

Title: Re: Grass Post by Superpain on Mar 23rd, 2004, 9:34pm No I love room fresheners. Not a problem. But I did just about get my ass kicked in a serious way! I was successful in aborting, but had to hit O2 for about 5 min's... *shudder* Should be an interesting evening. :-/ I think I'm gonna start pounding water. |

Title: Re: Grass Post by john123 on Mar 23rd, 2004, 9:42pm To me, the only worse then having a full blown ch is having a full blown ch and being all fucked up on weed. Though I have not smoked in years. It just totally fucking confusing and a real nightmare. |

LMMFAO! Try drinking that beer while you're in a hot tub...that kicked my ass real good once. Dude are you nuts? why in the hell would you do something that might/will trigger a ch? [smiley=yikes.gif] Jim |

Title: Re: Grass Post by Superpain on Mar 23rd, 2004, 10:13pm Because as someone that is chronic told me the other day, "Drink get a headache... Don't drink, get a headache!" I've ben getting hit for a year straight, and real bad the last few weeks. So I've deprived myself too long for me to hold out anymore! I've gotta drink a few beers here and there, and since I'm gonna have headaches anyway, what the hell! I feel ok right now. :) |

Title: Re: Grass Post by Superpain on Mar 23rd, 2004, 10:15pm Oh yeah. I wish I had a hot tub! I used to... I'd live in it between headaches! |

Title: Re: Grass Post by FZfan on Mar 23rd, 2004, 10:30pm Supe, you have about the best attitude about these things. Even after all your years of suffering you still stand up and give the beast the finger. Good for you! And as long as you can take it, why not experiment? Do you have more than one trigger? Maybe you'll even discover ways to beat certain triggers. Who knows? Any research you do will probably be something no one else is doing anyway. Of course, a study group of one is kinda small, but you gotta start somewhere, eh? |
||
Title: Re: Grass Post by Superpain on Mar 23rd, 2004, 11:07pm [smiley=laugh.gif] Yeah, I guess... Anything and nothing at all triggers me. Everything triggers me. Or maybe it doesn't. I get them so often anymore, I'm not sure triggers are relevant anymore. Pain is all that matters. |

Title: Re: Grass Post by CPM on Mar 23rd, 2004, 11:17pm I think Mr. Zappa sums it up pertty good. Since I'm an old fart at 45 and never gotten high on weeds yet, it would probably just be a waste of pot on me. Alcohol and cigarettes don't seem to be triggers for me. Just came back from a night out with the guys sucking down a few highballs and puffing up a storm on cigarettes. I do plan to quit smoking soon, but you know how that is. I absolutely admire those of you that seem to go through litteral hell with your ongoing CH, and yet display such a neat and positive outlook. My season appears to near its end for now (I hope), but I swear, had I the power, I'd pass the break off to all chronics. Now watch me turn into chronic for having said that!! Oh well. Hang in there,! |

Title: Re: Grass Post by Superpain on Mar 24th, 2004, 4:28am Well, I guess my hypothesis, or lack thereof is true. I am indeed getting my ass kicked with HA's. Positivity is dwindling right now. At least I have O2! [smiley=hammer.gif] |

Title: Re: Grass Post by Pegase on Mar 24th, 2004, 8:09am for me pot isn't a trigger and dont gives CH... I smoking pot almost everyday for the fun ot it and because i like it. ALcool is a trigger for me (haven't drink in years or in very rare ocasion) and it's really bad for the health... Pot is way better for you (it relax me) and it's natural...;-) Pegase |
