I have a friend we been friends for years. Well she moved away three years ago. Not really far away but about a hour from me. I had her number called her a few times. I got wraped up in Life. My family, Me being sick, the baby, you guys. I did not call her she did not call me. Well a little over a year ago Buddy and I was going shopping. We were getting out of the car and my Friend was walking by well I did not see her because I was getting the baby out of the car. My friend saw Buddy and he said hi and she said. Tell Elaine to kiss my ass! She walked off. Well we went shopping and it bugged me to death. I wrote her a note and said and said I know your mad cause I haven't called I have no excuse life just got in the way. I put it on the window of her car.
I spent the whole year wanting to call her but PRIDE got in my way. Christmas I sent her a card. Well I got a card back. That was my most cherished Christmas gift that card. I still did not call her. Well last night I picked up the phone and called her. We talked half the night.
Hell we had three years to get caught up on. We don't live but 30 minutes apart since I moved here.
Now we are calling ourself kiss my ass friends LOL!
I am going to find more time for people I love. Life is to short and family and friends are just to important to even let one slip away like that.
If you have someone that told ya to kiss there ass, ditch the pride and make amends. Its a damn good feeling when you do.
Last night when we hung up we promised to call each other every week and meet one time a month.

Elaine, be glad you did what you did.

I had that chance too. And I made amends with a friend, and less than 6 months after we had made amends and starting spending time doing things together, she died from cancer.

Life is too short, you are very right. Don't let 'life' get in the way of living.

I got this little reminder from a friend not long ago, and I think about it often, to all my friends here, I WISH YOU ENOUGH!

I'm glad you all finally made contact. You've mentioned this a few times so I've know it was upsetting you.

Now tell me this.....
Are "kiss my ass friends" and "as*hole buddies" the same thing.... ;;D

This timing is amazing. Yesterday, a classmate of mine and a friend for almost 60 years was killed in a car wreck. When I got the news, it was such a shock - I just saw her a few weeks ago and we were going to have lunch soon.

Last night I spent a lot of time on the phone with other classmates (our class has stayed very close). I talked to people who live here in town that I never see. We laughed and cried, but not a one of us forgot to say, "I love you" before we hung up.

Glad you and your friend got back together.

Good for you, Elaine - that's the sign of true friendship, isn't it? Taking a break, for whatever reason, not connecting for a period of time and then finding the ability to pick up right where you left off. THAT's a true friend. You and I used to talk every day, often on the phone but lately we don't. But you know what? That's totally cool. We both know we still love each other and when we do meet again, we'll yack each other's ears off again!! Real friendships can stand the test of time and folks going in different directions. Once the friendship is cemented, that's it, that's all. That's the kind of friend I consider YOU, TS - you're stuck with me- we're lifers. :-*

As for you, Jonny......you're friggin right that felt good. ;) So, does this mean I can call you my FU,B friend now? I think that's a cut above a KMA friend. (Well put, Suzy!!)

Barb, I'm so sorry for your loss. Not sure if you'll accept a hug from me, but....hell, if Jonny can do it, so can I. Love to you, Barb, and my condolences for your friend.

I miss ya But I got your cup with our pictures on it not a day goes by that I don't think of you and today I had to fight the baby over my hat LOL! I am going to have to get the kid a hat thats all there is to it !

Sometimes when I wake up where I fell asleep, at the end of the bed, I find myself saying "good morning" and kissin' her ass.
