OK....I HOPE it is ok I ask this question even tho it is not directly CH related (me being the big degressor that I am anyhow). I tried again to log onto OUCH.....fineally got my password figured out cuz somehow it takes two names and sends me a password for each but only one works ?......but.......when I go to view a page I am 'no longer logged in' !? I have had this problem on a couple other websites I use for information and research requireing you to log in. Can't ask a question with them either or change pages cuz I am no longer logged in rite after I log in..........yet I can move around on here and ebay ok. Any ideas ?? I tried to retreive a message on OUCH but when I clicked it it said messenger service was only for members and I WAS logged in ! I have to log in again and then am off once I try to go anywhere at all. Dunno what the problem is..........suma this high tech crap gets over my head and I get confused. Computer Nerdless Pam

Thank you for any help I "mite maybe" get.....apprciate it otherwise I can't get around on OUCH and have given up before too. Sorry for this OFF post......

I too had some trouble but maybe I can shed some light on the problem. The "new" board is like this one, YABB. It is not the same as the rest of the OUCH site so one log-in and password is for the OUCH site in general and the other log in and password is for the "new" MB and never shall the two meet.

See? Clear as mud!

OK....here's what happens.....I log onto OUCH with the appropiate username and password and I check the box to 'stay logged in' even. OK so....."I'M IN".......I'm logged in and everything......then I click onto message board........and POOF.......a message says I need to log on cuz it is for members only. Is that a private area maybe ? So......I log on again.....everythin is cool and "I'M IN".....I click on to the MB to read up what's goin on.....and again 'once I have clicked' to go to anouther 'area' to read up on stuff I am OUT....and get a message sayin I am NOT logged in and the area is for members only and to please register or log in. My username and password are correct now I'm useing for OUCH. I had to send for my password again.....wouldn't accept the old one....the new one is numbers and letters. It comes up saying I AM logged on ! This goes on and on and on and on......and I am always told to log on if I move around the board. Have had that trouble with anouther web site I have to register with to 'ask questions and get answers' and it also lets me log in and says I am logged in.....then when I go to the area I want it says I am NOT logged in and need to log in....arghhhhhh ! Did that make sense ? Pam that can make a very long story even longer

It's no you it's me.......somethin ain't workin rite and this new fangled PC thing has me confusicated

Go to your internet settings sweetie. You might have it set to not allow cookies. If that is the case then the CPU (Compter) will not remember who you are from one site to another. Check your security levels. They should be medium not high or it will constantly kick your log in out.

Tia.....'thanks'....maybe that's it......thougth I had everything set as I wanted but this is a new pc and is Windows XP I am tryin to get familiar with and have not had the time to mess with it either enuff. Seems a few others had had this problem also so anuther reason I brought it up to help anyone else with this goofy problem. Did get on OUCH today for a minute but it would not eccept the new password that was numbers and letters I was sent. Used the old one and took it but could not be listed as logged on........it said to log in or register after loggin on. Maybe I jus don't understand how it works. At least I can get on to read stuff......not as if I ever have much of importence to say anyhow to help the cause but at least I can window shop now. How much is that CH'r in the window Pam

Check at the top (where the IMs are) and make sure you're logged in. sometimes I have to do it several times before it gets me on there. Just keep typing your login name and your password till it tells you Wecome with your name on it.

Small glitz but keep trying...

It sounds like your privacy setting in IE are stopping a cookie from being loaded on your machine. Sometimes these cookies are required by the site to keep track of your login. That is, when you login, it sends you a cookie. Then, every time you request a page, that cookie is accessed to see if you are currently logged in (basically is looks at your cookie for a code that is on it's list of logged in users).

What you probably need to do is change you privacy settings in IE. Go to Tools, Internet Options. Select the Privacy tab. Move the slider all the way to the bottom. This stops all strange IE actions on cookies. Then try doing what you want. I think you'll find it works.

Cookies are not so bad. I sure privacy freaks would disagree, but this is what they are meant for... Nothing 'private' is being shared at all.

Thanks Fu........that 'jus may' be the ticket here cuz this thing had all sorts of restrictions set when I brought it home. (handbuilt PC) I couldn't even read alot of email stuff so I changed that and I run virus scans daily and check for updates and have it set to do so automatically also. Can't be too careful ! Cuz when I log in on OUCH and any other log in site..... it says 'welcome' and I am logged on....soon as I pick an area to view I am NOT logged in....I relog and am ON then go to read up on stuff and move around and I am OFF. After about 20 tires I said @#$% it !!! So that makes sense. I'll check the cookie settings but 'thought' I had that set to recieve them all......it also mentions a setting to recieve third hand cookies Last time I checked that area ? (wuzz zat ??) Pam that hates stale cookies but is suddenly craveing choc chip ones
