Title: Wingate Study Post by Miklos on Feb 19th, 2004, 11:33am Below is a quote from my Wingate pharmaceutical student: I am so lucky to have gotten you...lots of students are having trouble getting their patients to respond, and you have so much enthusiasm about educating me on cluster headaches. Boy! I hope the underlined statement is not true! While I have no idea whether or not it will be welcome, if you are not part of the study and would like to contribute, please answer the questions below and e-mail them to me in a Word document. I will forward any and all responses to my student. Please include your e-mail address in your response in case someone wishes to follow up with you. Below is the initial set of questions that started the semester. They are a bit stilted, but I said to heck with it and went ahead and told her what I thought she needed to know. Must be working.
If so, please describe it to me. How was it first manifested, recognized, and diagnosed? When did you first notice that something was wrong, and did you initially excuse it? Or were the symptoms so problematic that you immediately knew that something was wrong? Please describe the symptoms in your own words. Here is the topic for the week of 02/16 to 02/20: We talked in class about estimating the cost of illness, and how difficult it is. It is so easy to underestimate...it is difficult to account for many effects of disease, such as: pain and suffering, defensive expenditures, lost leisure time, and potential altruistic benefits. My questions for you this week are:
Can you place a price tag on your disease? |

Title: Re: Wingate Study Post by Karla on Feb 19th, 2004, 12:11pm I take the time to respond to my student as soon as I recieve the email from him. But the questions you posed to the board are not the same questions I have been asked. So are you sure you are doing the student/school any favor by getting multiple answers to the same questions. We should let them know if they need more volunteers because they are having problems with some that we could solicite to get more volunteers for them if that is what they wanted. |

Title: Re: Wingate Study Post by ckelly181 on Feb 19th, 2004, 7:23pm My student also had a different set of questions. I didn't get a set this week. I think I've had 4 sets in all. Chris |

Title: Re: Wingate Study Post by Prense on Feb 19th, 2004, 8:53pm Mine emails me every Thursday or Friday each week. I always reply promptly. I know all too well what a student's life with homework that is dependent on someone else's actions are like. The questions started out similarly as others have posted here, but they have become tailored to my responses. I am hoping when the class is over, there is some sort of recap, or feedback for all of us that are participating. Chris |

Title: Re: Wingate Study Post by Mark C on Feb 19th, 2004, 9:11pm Me and mine have devloped a pretty good routine. We exchange one or two e-mails a week. I was a bit slack but have since been prompt in my replys. My poor student has 10 (!) classes and is carrying a "B" so she must be pretty smart....and her dog just had puppies! PFDAN's Mark Hi Hollie! |
