Title: Obligatory I'm new here post. Post by jzakhar on Feb 13th, 2004, 9:35pm Hello All, I managed to stumble upon this place doing a little googling about my headaches. Anyway I am 26, and I have been getting headaches since 18 or so. It took maybe a good year of getting them before I decided to seek some medical help. I still remember that day.. I went to an allergist it was my fathers suggestion. After the test (something like 50 pin pricks in my back) he told me to go see a neurologist. And said I probably had migraine headaches. So a few weeks later I had my appointment and a cat scan and all that. In the end I was diagnosed with cluster headaches. He sat me down and told me all the things assicated with them, that was the worst day of my life. My cycle for the last few years has been, few months on few months off. Ususally from Feb - June I have severe attacks, 1 - 2 , 4 hour headaches a day. Then from June till Feb they are few and far between. Maybe 1 or two a month. The last couple of days have been pretty terrible so I am going to have to start taking inderal again I think for the next few months. I also have some self injections of imitrix I can use if needed. If they get unbearable the emergency room is a mile away (they know me real well at this point ) I can go get put out for the night with some shots they give me. Anyway this seems like a real nice place, I have never met anyone else with serious headache problems, its good and bad to know i'm not alone. |

Only on ER visits, after reading some, it's time to find a new doctor I think. All I am getting from mine is inderal, imitrix, and tons and tons of pain killers. Does o2 help ? Is o2 OTC by any chance ? |

Title: Re: Obligatory I'm new here post. Post by Charlie on Feb 13th, 2004, 9:55pm Welcome to the fold. At least I'm glad you have something to fight with. Inderal worked for me after a week or so and I took it during and after my cycles for a short time. Not many here use it. If you stick around you'll find some good ideas and ways to deal with this horror. Lots of support and nonsense too. 8) Here is a technique that worked for me. It's strange but the damn thing works: http://www.netsync.net/users/charlies/ Let us know how you're doing. Charlie |

O2 is a wonderful thing for a lot of us. It's cheap and will not kill you but you do need a doctor's script unless you can get welders O2. You must use it correctly, check out the link to the left, print it out and take it to you doc. Welcome aboard, sorry you had to find us but glad your here. There is always somebody around. |

Ditto !! Pain killers are not used for CH......they may "mask" the pain.....but when the pain killers wear off......you still have CH. Not the way to go !!! Pf vibes, Jean |

Title: Re: Obligatory I'm new here post. Post by bobkip on Feb 14th, 2004, 7:32am Welcome aboard jz, sorry your here tho. Pain killers do little for ch, by the time they kick in the attack of the beast is usually winding down and you're in la la land for the rest of the day. Do try O2, it doesn't work for everyone but for those that it does it's a lifesaver. Best of luck and keep in touch. Kip |
