Title: Convention registration Post by DaveHar on Feb 5th, 2004, 12:08am At this point the only holdup is a link for the paypal account. As soon as we receive a link we will post it for everyone to use for the payment of the registration fees. If you would like you can use the e-mail link at the top of the message board to send an e-mail stating that you are attending and we will send you the link via email as soon as we get it as well. It would be a great help to start receiving names and the number of people in that party that are 100% positive that they will be there so that we can start building a list up of our own and a count for the total amount of people that will be there. Just in case here is the email addy again ouch04@earthlink.net Remember people you have tax money comming in, set your funds asside now so you have it for convention. Don't miss out on it. If you have been to the small meet and greets then you do not want to miss this one. Convention is going to be July 16th, 17th, and 18th You can show up on the 15th and leave later that is up to you! Title: Re: Convention registration Post by DaveHar on Feb 5th, 2004, 7:07pm The post was made because people were asking for it. Leesa and I both felt that getting something on here for people to access quickly would be helpful. There was an issue that was discussed earlier about this and some people not knowing where to register for it or how to pay and seeing how this board is the mainstay for everyone we were going to do as much here for everyone as possible. Thank you Mastiff for providing the link. Dave |

Title: Re: Convention registration Post by catlind on Feb 5th, 2004, 7:29pm Don't get too worried about people not being registered yet. Last year it was the end of May before I had even a semi firm set of numbers for attendance. It was June before I had a firm set, and the week before the convention I had some that came along as last minute attendances and some that dropped out. If you need deposit money for the hotel or the banquet, then just post it to the BoD and Officers and send them the copies of the agreements like the one Jayne sent me, and they will issue a check for the deposit amount. Get a feel for the number of people who want to attend and then work based on a budget from that. Experience from last years convention, as well as previous years says that folks just don't commit this early on. I can tell you that I will definitely be attending, and along with me will be definitely one speaker, a 2nd that I'm waiting on confirmation from, and others that I have to get ahold of. (I'll get ahold of you guys on this in a bit, IM me a phone number so I can tell you what is going on with the speakers) Hopefully once the speaker info is out there that will inspire more people to commit to attend the convention. It's just the nature of the convention it seems that you won't get firm numbers til you are at the wire. Don't sweat it, just ask DJ for a sticky topic about the convention and asking for people who are going to attend. Host it and they will come. You will have to get used to the idea of working with a non existent budget as the money comes in in dribs and drabs as registrations come in. Hopefully we'll get a grant in time as well to pay for the speakers and their expenses. I know what you are going through, and what everyone told me I'll tell you - relax, it will all turn out just fine. I didn't believe them when they told me that, but they were all right, it turned out just perfect. There is a block of rooms set aside, and as you get closer to the time that you have to release the rooms (60 days out) remind folks that they won't be guaranteed rooms if they don't register and book prior to that time. After that date, you release the outstanding rooms and people are on their own to get rooms for the convention. Everything else can be done closer to the time and isn't a worry yet. As you need things, just let OUCH know what you need and they will issue the check for it. Cat |
