Title: Something to think about
Post by Geordie Chopman on Jan 28th, 2004, 8:25pm
I've just read Kim's post on the radio report regarding potential damage caused by CH etc to the brain.  I'm sure you all agree that during a CH it feels like someone is inflating our brain and squashing it against the inside of our heads - now surely that concept must relate to something physical. Increasing pressure upon any soft tissue (ie the brain) can and usually will result in damage - usually a bruise (you all still with me on this one?)  Whilst pain is a neurological response to the stimulation of nerves, the stimulation results from pressure (of varying degrees), therefore (the way I see it) pain = pressure, pressure = compression, compression = damage (we all know that pain is the body's way of preventing further damage caused by an initial stimulae).  Likewise continued pressure combined with movement (movement caused by the relative expantion and contraction of tissues subject to fluctuating pressure) results in FRICTION and what does friction cause - BURNS and burns create BLISTERS which do two things - 1. they increse the pressure by reducing the occupiable space and 2. they burst releasing fluid which further occupies the limited space but can also move to other areas.  This brings me onto my may reason for putting fingers to keyboard - WE ALL AGREE that the CH messes with one of our eyes - the eyeball feels like it is being crushed, yes?  What if it was?  Remember these blisters? POP! now we have fluid - where does it go? Could it sneak its way towards the eye? (At this point I've got to admit I'm no doctor and could be talking total rubbish - but hey someone had to invent the wheel) The things that draw me to this radical way of thinking are these 1. Blisters do happen both outside and INSIDE our bodies, this I know from first hand experience since a whole bunch of them caused one of my lungs to deflate when I was 17; 2. When I was about 27 I had my eyes tested (thought this could be the cause of my headaches - turns out I had 20/20 vision no problems whatsoever, but up until then I'd had no CH only migraines, now 10 years later, after starting with CH symptoms I had my eyes checked again (I always get my pain on the right hand side of my head including right eye) this time my vision was still 20/20 BUT there was a FLAT SPOT on my right eyeball - the eyeball is flat at one point near the back, now this flatness may have been there before and just not indicated to me or (and call me conspiritorial) it has been caused by some form of prolonged pressure - I asked the optician about this and he said that this could not happen - but hey he may not know everything, right?

Any way, does anybody else have an experience like this or thoughts upon it or am I really just overly paranoid?

Think about it -  :o

Totally Justifiable Paranoia is a bona-fide side effect of CH syndrome. Welcome to the program. That's why this place exists year atfer year.

Stay nervous,
