Title: Correspondence with Pharmacy Student Post by Brian_Y on Jan 28th, 2004, 2:35pm Team, I've begun my correspondence on the "human" face of CHs with the Pharmacy student from Wingate (this is, if you recall a post from a Dr. Supernaw--I think that's right--some months ago). This is going quite well and I'm being asked some interesting questions. QUESTION: How is everyone else's correspondence going, if they have begun or do I have the go-getter and he's begun his with me early? ;;D What topics do you think they might be interested in? I think, vis a vis this question, that it might serve us better if there is at least some consistency as to the effects of the CH--physiological, psychological (yes, reactions themselves may differ, but to mention these effects is important), clinical definitions, et al. Thoughts? B |

Title: Re: Correspondence with Pharmacy Student Post by Jayne on Jan 28th, 2004, 3:15pm Mine has sent me three emails already asking me some great questions. The first one was to describe clusterheadaches.....oh I went to town on that one...she emailed me back and said she could not imagine such pain....mine is great....how's your pet student [smiley=laugh.gif] |

Title: Re: Correspondence with Pharmacy Student Post by Mr.Happy on Jan 28th, 2004, 3:57pm Got a couple so far as well. Pretty much the same stuff as everyone else got. Decided ro go on the offensive, and start hitting HER with questions, like: Are your questions each week laid out by your instructor, or are you winging it? How structured is the mentor program? Do you compare notes weekly with other students, or is everything kept to yourself (and your instructor)? How many students are participating that you know of? Is it a requirement for all, or a select few? How will the end results be used, tallied, recorded or graded? It's kinda fun, RJ |

Title: Re: Correspondence with Pharmacy Student Post by Bob_Johnson on Jan 28th, 2004, 4:08pm I've had 3/4 exchanges; letting him set the tone and ask questions. I hope that it will help make a new generation of professonals a bit more aware--especially since these folks are in a position to steer the customers to appropriate treatment. |

Title: Re: Correspondence with Pharmacy Student Post by Bob P on Jan 28th, 2004, 4:25pm Traded 3 e-mails with mine so far. Last one dealt with communicating with my doctor. He was also especially interested in my story about almost beating the life out of my pharmacist to steal all his cafergot. |

Title: Re: Correspondence with Pharmacy Student Post by Miklos on Jan 28th, 2004, 5:21pm Get over it, Chuck. They probably had a quota for BOFs. I've had three e-mails from my lady type student. From the comments I 've seen from others, it sounds like they're sending out scripted questions. |

This one came up as a post here on the MB...my suggestion, stay current on the posts as much as you are able to. As for the Wingate program, it sounds like we are all getting the same questions based on what others are reporting here. Either way, I am enjoying being a part of this. Chris |

Turt, We don't know what this is all about yet. Hopefully, some answers will be shed at the end of the EDU study. Appears this is a pilot program. Mayhaps, with next years crop of new paying intellects, we may get a second go-around. Apparently, they tried to recruit from a number of medical-sufferers boards.......and we were the only batch of writhing sucks that responded with great aplomb. Give `em what they want, and leave `em wanting more. Charge double, RJ |

Title: Re: Correspondence with Pharmacy Student Post by Callico_Kid on Jan 29th, 2004, 1:08am Chuck, We're both in the same boat. I even showered and brushed my teeth at the beginning of the month to be ready! :( What's a guy gotta do? ;;D Excellent program, but from what Dr Supernaw wrote me I think they got a much larger response from us than they expected. I do wish I could have participated though. jc |

Title: Re: Correspondence with Pharmacy Student Post by BillyJ. on Jan 29th, 2004, 1:57am Tsayswhy-Yes it is very hard to put the answers into words especialy in print. My [smiley=twocents.gif] For those feeling 'left out'-"Wingate University School of Pharmacy opened its doors to applicants in 2002, with the charter class beginning its program of study in August 2003. The class size has been capped at 60 to assure special attention to every student." a quote from an E-mail-" Since I will be assigned questions to ask you every Wednesday, you should be hearing from me at least once a week." &"I apologize for sending you additional questions before you have had a chance to reply to my previous message. Students must send an email within 48 hours of receiving an assignment. Please do not feel rushed. " Brian"What topics do you think they might be interested in? " The student I am corrsponding with is very interested in the alternative treatment because I sent her the link to clusterbusters. Happy-" Are your questions each week laid out by your instructor, or are you winging it?" although as stated some questions are assigned,I think that some come from genuine personal interest.Of course this will vary according to each students personality. Also for those participating, there are filters on the e-mail recieved so ask for a confermation with each e-mail. |

Title: Re: Correspondence with Pharmacy Student Post by Miklos on Jan 29th, 2004, 2:35pm It was probably a well thought out question. If your student has browsed the board at all, he is likely aware of your peculiar tastes in sartorial splendor. Perhaps he suspects (as I do) that your clothing selections are a hitherto unknown trigger for clusters? Try going nude to see if that reduces the frequency of headaches. Also read the post in the Jokes section (page 2) that lists the benefits of going to work naked. |

Title: Re: Correspondence with Pharmacy Student Post by Brian_Y on Jan 29th, 2004, 3:16pm My sartorial tastes are not peculiar. They are old school. Wearing the same shirts that F. Scott Fitzgerald did makes me less susceptible to a Member's Only Jacket train wreck or, say, those stupid goddamn bell bottom pants I see girls wear these days. Trust me, ladies...When you look back on your pix in 20 years, you will be mortified that the Disco Ho look was not, shall we say, all that slick a move... Me, I look the same now as I did 15 years ago. Sartorially, that is. I am actually better looking now. |
