I believe the second strongest showing was from TX?!? I vote Milwaukee, not just due to convienience but due to its central location to Chicago and Wisconsin. Oh yeah, Davenport is only about 3.5 hours away also. Just my 2c jmin |

Chicago on the other hand is always more affordable but getting around is much more difficult (traffic). Seems to me if you plan it, they will come is the order of the day. I personally like the idea of a Midwest gathering in Vegas....Talk about cheap flights and hotel!!! jmin |

Rooms overlook the river.....patios in the rooms. Has a bar, and restaurant. Do ya know anything about it? Is it nice? Could be a good location for 2005 [smiley=huh.gif] I can get a non-stop flight from Houston to Milwaukee on Continental Airlines. Midwest has a layover in Dallas. And....Continental is much cheaper than Midwest. Only 1/3 of the cost of Midwest. Room rates seem pretty reasonable too. Whatcha think [smiley=huh.gif] :-* Jean p.s. Tell Libby hi for me!!!!! ;) |

Title: Re: MIDWEST MEET AND GREET JANUARY 2005 Post by Kevin_M on Jan 16th, 2004, 2:35am Midwest has service to Milwaukee but not from a lot of cities. Midwest has been hit hard by the airline struggle. Milwaukee is fine for this Michigander too. I don't know, Chicago hotels can be a bit pricey, the city holds a lot of conventions, if there is one or possibly even two other conventions at the same time, that may limit options. Chicago makes Detroit look like Kalamazoo. Huge, great city, I'd take a couple extra days. Either would be fine. Cheap flights from Detroit to Chicago, but that ferry thing sounds cool to Milwaukee, never did it CHMess. Is Milwaukee not the home of Miller beer and Harleys? However summer sounds good though, ferrying across on the ice sounds a bit Titanic to me. Kevin M |

Title: Re: MIDWEST MEET AND GREET JANUARY 2005 Post by RevDeFord on Jan 16th, 2004, 3:02am How about Kansas City or St. Louis? Being that the meeting is in January, Wisconsin will be colder than heck. Kansas City and St. Louis both have cheap air fares, good entertainment, and you won't beat Kansas City's Barbecue. |

Title: Re: MIDWEST MEET AND GREET JANUARY 2005 Post by jminmilwaukee on Jan 16th, 2004, 3:19am The hilton on the river is very nice indeed. Not to mention it is very close to Water Street, wich is the "party street" for downtown Milwaukee. Fun Fact.....Milwaukee has more bars per capita than any other major US city. About 1 bar for every 1600 people. Not to poo poo the St louis idea but weather should not be much of an issue as the majority of travels will most likely take place between the hotel room and Atrium / Porch / wherever. Have to reiterate the strong showing from Wisc , Chicago also. Seems like a nice central location for most. Yes, Milwaukee is the home of Miller and Harley but we do allow other beers into the state. Just be carefull ordering a Bud in a local bar. Might find yourself "swimming" out in the big lake! lol We will need to verify smoking policies with the hilton prior to setting up anything definate. Bar time is 2 AM and offsale stops at 9 PM. jmin |

I know it is a physical thing, I used to be on anti-depresants many years ago. I am just determined I am not going to take them. I don't post anywhere very often right now. I am just too tired to do just about anything. The funny thing is, my congregation has no idea. We are growing, the church is happy, new people every week, I am doing well on all my sermons. It is just, when I get home, I want to just vegitate. I pray for many of you by name every day, despite not posting often. I used to post at work most of the time and I am so busy there now, I leave before 8 a.m. and get back well after quitting time. |

Title: Re: MIDWEST MEET AND GREET JANUARY 2005 Post by RevDeFord on Jan 21st, 2004, 7:57pm Thomas, Memphis is where Kansas Citians go to laugh at little puny ribs. Memphis is also where people go to find out their sexual orientation. Kansas City however has ribs which are unbeatable. If fact, there is this black dude in my town here near Kansas City that makes ribs in a little smoke pit in a Westlake's Ace Hardware parking lot. You can beat this dude's ribs bro. His potato salad, yes, but not his ribs. I swear this dude sleeps with his smoke pit. Heck, he may not even be black, it may just be soot. Seriously, I had barbecue at numerous places in Florida.......I had this guy's ribs one time and thought I had died and gone to heaven. Yep, definately KC for ribs. |

Title: Re: MIDWEST MEET AND GREET JANUARY 2005 Post by jminmilwaukee on Jan 22nd, 2004, 4:13am The Dells would be a rocking location, perhaps at Christmas Mountain or Devils head BUT...no non stop flights. Madison is about 45 minutes south but a smaller airport. Seems we are split on this. I suggest we look at logistics and determine if we need to split this up into a NORTH Midwest Meating and a SOUTH Midwest Meeting. Again, seems the turnout in Davenport was for the most part NORTH and centrally located to Milwaukee. Perhaps a Milwaukee (Open for the Dells though) AND St. Louis get together?!?! Call me crazy but sometimes you just can't please everyone with the same thing. Jeff but you can call me Jim. |

Title: Re: MIDWEST MEET AND GREET JANUARY 2005 Post by Karla on Jan 22nd, 2004, 2:07pm Yes, I could help shuttle to since I live in Madison. Madison is 1 hr away from the Dells. They do have very nice cabins set up for extended stays and wonderful water parks there. And lots of places to play mini golf and gocart racing. There are some places that have indoor water parks that run year round but they are very expensive to stay at. Like $150 a night. |
