Home Alone Two

When Glen Schibley, 83, fell and injured himself while working in his yard in Orlando, FL, he couldn't get up, but instructed his wife not to call the authorities because he had had bad experiences with doctors. Orange County Sheriff's representative Jim Solomons said that for three days, Harriet Schibley, 79, left her husband in the yard but brought him food, water and medicine and covered him with a tarp during rain storms. She slept beside him, but also fell while caring for him and was unable to get help. When the couple's son-in-law eventually found them, the husband was dead from exposure, but the wife was expected to recover. "They wanted to be left alone, and we left them alone," neighbor Sherman Brunell said, "and maybe we shouldn't have left them alone."
