World War 2 Veteran told me this.
In the hospital after being hit with shrapnel this man had both legs amputated right above the knees. On the phone to his wife he says well dear Ive got good news and bad news. He asked what she wanted first, she replies the bad, He tells her that he lost both of his legs.
And after her shock and some conversation she asked well what about the good news? He replied the guy in the bunk next to me wants to buy my slippers!!!!!!!
