Title: Treatment Update
Post by Sylvan on Dec 6th, 2004, 8:48pm
Well, I finally got to see my soon to be moving away GP instead of her dimwitted replacements.

She is pleased that i insisted on the referal to the neuro and insisted that if he did not order up imaging (ie catscan or preferably MRI) she was going to order it.

She also apologized for her collegue rxing such a ridiculously low dose of verapamil and doubled the dose. Also added an ace inhibitor to try to make a dent in my still high BP. Something called monopril.

She feels that while the headaches may be impacting the BP - it is unlikely that the BP is causing the HA's. in her words - "if the BP was causing the HA's - you'd be having them constantly - not just from REM sleep."

So we're addressing the BP as a seperate issue and working on preventing the HA's. She felt the neuro was better equipped to recommend an abortive.

She did say that they are definately clusters though.

Nuero Appt is in 3 days.

Thanks to all of you who have been helping me learn about this and cope with it.

Sylvan

Hi Sylvan,
Sounds like you're headed in the right direction now. Am glad to hear your doctor is listening to your advice and requests.
Let us know it goes with the neurologist appointment.

I have often wondered if blood pressure does affect my CH.  I get the things year round, but mostly in the summer, and it seems when Im working bent over (tying rebar or building forms ect.) its almost a given Im gonna get hit.  If I dont get hit while working, Im sure to have a head banger on the way home, or while sleeping after a hard days work.    Good luck with your Neuro.  I hope you get a good one.

For me, the summer has long days and heat.  That is what triggers for me.  But the bending over/blood pressure could have an effect too.

Bending gets me almost every single time. I'm finally remembering NOT to bend about 80% of the time. At a certain age, squatting becomes much more of an effort.  If I'm alone and have to get something from under the bed, I have to very carefully lay down on the floor, keeping my head raised until I am fully prone. Then I can slowly lower my head to the floor to look. This has do be done very slowly and with great concentration. If it wasn't so pathetic, it could almost be a new yoga position.  :-/
