Title: migraine after cluster???? Post by JenniferD on Nov 11th, 2004, 3:17pm After yesterday's bout with the beast- and a big thanx to all for the support- I stayed at work, exhausted but "sure" that the pain was gone for the day (comes back to feed at night). However, the pain stayed at about a k4, centered in my head/not left sided as normal, and stayed all freakin day till nearly 8:30 pm. When I got home, I took the 3rd frovatriptan for the day and finally got some relief. My question is: even though I dont think I've ever had a migraine, is it possible to have a migraine following a cluster attack? |

Title: Re: migraine after cluster???? Post by E-Double on Nov 11th, 2004, 3:29pm You can get them before, after, & with if you're lucky...That is a really bizarre feeling. Quite a few people here are lucky to have multiple HA types. I never knew it to be possible but it is. Feel well, E. |

Title: Re: migraine after cluster???? Post by vig on Nov 11th, 2004, 3:30pm sometimes, the cluster fades, but not completely. I don't believe it's a migraine though, just a low level cluster. |

I think Vig's probably right. It's often referred to as a shadow. All the best Filbert. |

Title: Re: migraine after cluster???? Post by E-Double on Nov 11th, 2004, 3:45pm Difference in pain location and type of pain. I once posted about "shadows on both sides" way back because I didn't know that you could have overlays and or different types as well as CH. I learned the difference between shadows and the 1 a month migraine ( I'm a dude so no comment lol) I'd get. Then I developed icepicks on top of the CH and thought I was going nuts... They're all diff types it seems. Whatever it is I hope you catch a break! |

Title: Re: migraine after cluster???? Post by JenniferD on Nov 11th, 2004, 3:46pm I refer to them as "lurkers"- little b-st-rds that like to keep whappin me upside the head as if to say, "hey, I'm still here, ya know... gonna be back later with buddies." This was different in that it wasn't the usual one-sided, ice pick in the temple lurker. Seemed more all over feeling. I really appreciate the feedback from each of you. Nice to know I'm not completely insane. :) |

Title: Re: migraine after cluster???? Post by lionsound on Nov 11th, 2004, 10:01pm Hi Jennifer! I get migraine and clusters at the same time and at different times. And sometimes I have no idea what the party in my head is doing. It may or may not have been a migraine for you, the important thing to know is that your abortives, as you found, can work for both. Ask your doc about it. pf wishes for you, lionsound |

Title: Re: migraine after cluster???? Post by sandie99 on Nov 12th, 2004, 2:33am Well, in my case, it IS totally possibe. That has happened to me a couple of times. Not nice, but at least normal meds stop the migraine! But, if you did have a migraine after CH, I hope it won't happen again - CH is enough terror to one's life! Best wishes & PFdays, sandie99 |

Title: Re: migraine after cluster???? Post by Tetris-addict on Nov 12th, 2004, 8:16am Just make sure you keep the journal. Location pain level time of day it started and ended. that can really help when you look back, because my recall is not so grand. I am just 35, but suffer from CRS, and because I didn't write it all down, I still think I am episodic.... wink. I hope it was a one time hit for you. Migrains suck as bad as CH.... heck. pain sucks. lol |
