Title: Finally saw the neuro
Post by Guido on Nov 11th, 2004, 1:09am
Now that I am 3 weeks past my episode I got to see the neurologist. She was great. New all about CH. did some tests, asks some questions and pronounced me a headbanger.
What she also did was make and entry in my clinical file that says ...next time he gets Imitrex and o2 without delay and no hoops to jump. She also put Verapamil in there. Now I never tried it but she feels it is a great abortive. So next time we shall see.
So if your new here glad and sad. what works for me was o2 if I caught it early. O2 and Imitrex ( nasal) if it woke ( and it always did ) me in the night.
good luck all..if I get lazy about comin here sorry. but I wlil see you down the road no doubt.
Guido

Verapamil will not work as an abortive, it is a preventative medication.

I'm glad you got some help from the doc. Glad your episode is over, too. Good luck Guido- PF wishes to you.

I think this is a common time for people to be coming out of episodes and it's also time to relax, but also to keep on the ball and continue filling the prescriptions and being prepared for the next round.
Don't let up.

Sorry.. I am sure she said preventative and I was just being me and confused.
Course now she called and said further reading she has decided I should get an MRI because my first episode was at age 52 (this last being only my second)..so....film at eleven.

Don't get too worried over the MRI----my first CH was late in life----around age 50. I thought it was sinus, of course-----because I am a old broad---and did't fit the profile. My Dr.s never mention CH until I suggested it, just 2 years ago----it just goes to show you etc.
Best of luck-------Sophie

ps I'm 61 now---golden years---not!

Guido,

The cool thing is....next go-around, you make one fone call, and have all the cool goop at your feet in one fell swoop. This is nothing to sneeze at. Planning is everything.

Keep expanding your options,
RJ
