Title: Regression?
Post by mynm156 on Nov 1st, 2004, 5:27pm
It's been a Brutal first full year as Chronic.  I had  restarting Verapamil and had been doing better.  However, over the last few days its like my head is in spasm.  I get these (mini clusters) These are like very short 30 seconds to couple mins of High Kips that come ALL DAY LONG.  Ten to maybe twenty a day!  Normally on a cluster day I get two to four attacks couple times a week.  Pretty predictable stuff responds fairly well to meds.  This however is a nightmare to endure they don’t stop coming no matter what I do.  I have had this happen before and that is when I started the Verapamil it helped but I BLAZED through my Zomig which seemed to have no positive results.  Has anyone else had these types of Attacks?

Thanks Gang let there be PF days ahead for us all

Sadly - yes I get 'em, too. I only get 'em about 4 - 6 times a day and k3-5 maybe 3 times a day for about 20 mins each. Ah - the life of chronic clusterness...

I feel your pain or felt it....

I thought I was going nuts...ZAPS like mini excruciating CH's but for seconds...

Spoke to some of our brothers & sisters...anyway did quick research and called my neuro....

Could be SUNCT, Icepicks, didn't matter He told me.
" Forget the additional diagnosis...Let's try to get you releif!!"

Put me on an indomethacin trial and it wiped out the ZAPS or spasms as you called them.

Hasn't touched the CH but don't get those mini killers anymore.

Go for it!! (oh yeah I'm not a doctor ;))

E-Double gave you good advice on indomethacin.  Sounds like to me that you've got something else going on in addition to your clusters.  Good luck.

I remember some threads on indomethacin
being effective for Paroxysmal Hemicrania (CPH) in the past.

I recall statements to the effect that if indomethacin  was effective it showed that the person was almost certainly suffering from Paroxysmal Hemicrania rather than CH. The short sharp pains lasting 30sec to a minute does not sound quite like CH to me. You might have something else as well?

Might be worth some more investigation for you?

Doesnt the head just SUCK sometimes?!  Thanks for all your input gang!

I sure hope I dont have something else to go with my Devil dances.  These ones sure are painful and just like a cluster no warning just BAM instant ICE PICK in the eye!  Very much like my night clusters.  They are not AS intense as those have been lately but I would say 6-7 maybe even an 8.  Thought the beast that has been acalling me at night as of the last few weeks has reduced me to tears and.............plenty of OH GODS!!!!

Thanks again my Brothers and Sisters in Pain

Nothing but LOVE and GOOD VIBES to you all!!

Please don't panic. If this is one of the other forms of
headaches be relieved! They are 99.9% responsive to indomethacin. More info here-  http://www.upstate.edu/neurology/haas/hpstab.htm

:( Well my heart goes out to you, my tomato had exactly the same deal. Im happy to say hes on his way back to the light, just a few shadows but it looks like the light is at the end of the tunnel. he still takes verapamil everyday, and the zomag goes everywhere with him. although with the cost of those  bitches he will take the shadows , zomag is soooooo $$$$$$. Im sure your  just  extremely exhausted, hang in there I feel for you even if Im just the wife of a ch Ive learned so much about the beast, Ill pray your future days get better for you, be brave and always here if ya need to vent. ( hope you have someone to help you through this fff terrible time. god bless       snook  :P ::)

Crazy stuff my Neuro did up the Verapimil and also gave me 6 bottles of Stadol.  Stadol is ok when I just cant take it anymore. Oh Well maybe the busters are on the verge of a breakthrough.

Good Vibes all
