Title: Day 2 without an attack! Post by kcorrigan on Oct 28th, 2004, 10:23pm ;;D [smiley=inlove.gif] Today is day 2 without an attack. I went back to work today finally and am planning on working tomorrow and doing my scheduled party tomorrow night! (We even made plans for this weekend!) I'm so excited! I think that I'm really done with these friggin' things! I'm really feeling better - or at least getting back to normal. It's so crazy that they leave almost as quickly as they arrive. What a pain in the ass they are though while they're here! No more narcotics, or meds and only 3 more days to go on the Pred taper!!! Can't wait to see the neuro on Tuesday! I want to be ready for next time. OOOhhhhh, I'm so happy!!!! Okay, gotta get back to work now. I'm hoping to get some sleep tonight. I still have some shadows and my head feels like it got the crap beat out of it, but 2 whole days!!!! Thanks again to all of you who have helped me understand the treatment options. This is the best place for information. Here's to PF days and nights to everyone else. Luv ya! ~K |

Well if 15 years of history with CH has told me anything, it's that 2 days is an awesome indication that the end is here/near. This is the best that I've felt in 4 weeks! I'm prepared, but not too worried. The worst is definitely past. ~ K |

You might want to take it a tad easy on the party theme. It's that "end of the pred taper" thing that catches my eye. Quote:
It's not only about the meds, understanding and information. There's lots of pisspoor comradrie, cheap sex and off topic stuff. Eternal Salvation Guarenteed, or Triple Your Money Back..... (http://mushys.com/Godman/godman.html) RJ |

Mr Happy has a good point. Please be careful with the celebrating. NO ALCOHOL! If, after 2 weeks of being med free and no attacks then maybe a drink. Please. |

Title: Re: Day 2 without an attack! Post by dafreeman on Oct 29th, 2004, 7:40am Congrats on the 2 days of PF. I'm starting on PF Day 3 here, however, I'm still at the beginning of my prednisone taper. I'm not convinced yet that my cycle is over though. Mostly because I've read several past postings of the CH return after the prednisone level is lowered/ended. Also, I was getting tagged 2-3 times a day before the prednisone treatment with no reduction in sight. It's hard though, because I've felt so good, especially the last two. I agree with the no alcohol suggestion. I like the idea of waiting a short period while not on meds. It is tough though....I like to have a beer or two while watching the vikes up here in minny. Title: Re: Day 2 without an attack! Post by don on Oct 29th, 2004, 8:42am CAUTION! I've done the pred. taper more times than I can count. The CH returned each and every time when I reached the lower doses UNLESS I was taking a theraputic dose of a preventative. For me that is 480 mg of verapamil SR per day. I dont see where you are taking any preventative. I also dont see where you have mentioned alcohol but the above advice is good. The alcohol will trigger the CH and you still may have narcs in your system. |

Title: Re: Day 2 without an attack! Post by Valerie on Oct 29th, 2004, 10:05am Awesome news Katie! Glad you are feeling better, I sure hope it lasts. You know your cycles better than anyone so hopefully it over for good. Have you done the pred taper before? When I've done it the ha's usually come back once the taper is ending - but that has always been at the beginning or mid cycle. It's a great feeling when you know the worst is over :) Hugs, Valerie |

Title: Re: Day 2 without an attack! Post by kcorrigan on Oct 29th, 2004, 11:16am Definitely no alcohol for a while. I do in-home parties - that's what I meant by my scheduled party tonight. As far as PF, we're back on with a really bad attack today. This one's lasted for about 1 1/2 hours now and I don't see an end in site. I'm supposed to be getting ready for work but the thought of standing in a hot shower isn't doing it for me. Not to mention that I thought I'd give my trex spray a shot and it made me a little nauseous this time. UGH! About that pred taper? I'm almost done with it - 20 mg today then 10 mg tomorrow and Sunday... Is it typical to start getting HAs after it's over? I really didn't notice that the pred helped at all and today was day 10 of being on it. At any rate, today is Day 28 - 4 full weeks since they started. I'm gonna go crazy! But I know that I've got to be near the end... I'm off to call off from work now. Talk to you all later.... |

Title: Re: Day 2 without an attack! Post by Valerie on Oct 29th, 2004, 11:42am That sucks!! >:( The pred taper usually stops my ha's for a few days, but as soon as I start tapering the ha's come back. I'm not sure it's worth it, but when I'm in that much pain I don't care. What dosage did you start at? When my cycle is coming to an end, the ha's start getting better, but I may be hit once or twice with a bad one - I'm sure the worst is over. My cycles usually last 4 weeks, but this one was almost 8 - the last 2 weeks haven't been very bad, mostly shadows. I hope the end is near - at least we understand what you are going through :'( Hugs, Valerie |

Title: Re: Day 2 without an attack! Post by kcorrigan on Oct 29th, 2004, 12:11pm They started me at 60 mg - 2 days, 50 mg 2 days, etc. Today was the 2nd day of 20 mg and then tomorrow and Sunday at 10 mg. I haven't noticed any change. In fact, the HAs are more severe and last longer than they ever have before. I've been dealing with a lot of shadows lately, esp the past 2 days, and still not a full night's sleep. Oh well. We'll just wait and see what the neuro says on Tues. thanx again, ttyl ~K |

Title: Re: Day 2 without an attack! Post by Biker on Oct 29th, 2004, 3:17pm Those predisone tapers seem to work for awhile. I think they are intended to relieve the CH while the prevenative kicks in. For me, its verapamil. I had a pretty good week, and was even considering hitting the Halloween party in Athens, Ohio, but had a hit today. I went straight for the oxygen, and figure I better stay calm for awhile. Although its a party weekend, I think I will just hang around the farm. Hope the monster leaves ya alone. |
