i get it from time to time have you ever heard of mayan ear candles, there great sound kinda weird but you stick a candle (not a normal candle) in your ear set it a light 5 mins later it draws all the shit out of your ear, try it, if you cant find them anywhere i could send you some as i live in mexico.

I really don't know if I'm close to right - but I wonder if the plugged feeling isn't form ear wax, but some kind of pressure from the trigeminal nerve. [smiley=huh.gif]

Yes. I hope Ueli reads this one.

No permanent damage Becky unless you break your face or fist on the woodwork.

My ears clog a lot too. With the heel of your hand or your shoulder, press against the bottom of your ear going towards the top. You should feel the inner ear press against itself. It feels like it's clogging when you press. Keep doing that every once in a while, once or twice a day, and after a few days, a neat little ball of earwax comes out. Seriously. I figured this out after a cold.

No offensive to anyone, but I am with Don on this one. I know its not wax (never had that problem) I figured it was pressue but wasn't sure if my being constantly having the pressure on it. That it would cause any damage.

Look, is it blocked from the outside or inside?

Outside? Irrigate

Inside? Sudafed

just try it- you say always clogged... clogged with what? what would an ear be clogged with?  :)
never had a problem doesnt mean never will have or always will... how long has this been going on? and sometimes the simplest solution is the one you just pass right over. [smiley=laugh.gif]
ya have to humor us if you ask the hive mind... methodical elimination of possible causes. 8)

tried it for a long time and even antihismamines no lucky. It unclogged when I am not shadowing or having a hit. But I shadow all most all the time, with little breaks. It's the inside, I'm sure from pressure. Today for the first time in long time no shadows and no pressure. But tonight might be a different story. I can live with it but wondering about damage.Don, that was so funny about Halloween thing! [smiley=crackup.gif] [smiley=crackup.gif]

if its pressure, you can try holding your nose and blowing out your ears. At your own risk! Gently.

A friend who does scuba told me about this to relieve pressure when you swim in deep water.

Ear candles rock!  You would be extremely surprised to see the amount of crap come out.  It takes about 8-10 minutes per ear, and you can get them from health stores for about $2 each.  It sounds goofy and you look goofy doing it, but the results are phenomenal.

Chris is right about the candles but............
Don't do it by yourself. You need to have someone watch the burning candle so you don't catch your hairspray on fire.
And, after using an ear candle, don't ever cut it open just to see what is inside. You do not want to know what comes out of your ear! Believe me, it is not pretty.

Good point Bob.  I can only imagine someone with one of those things sticking out their ear through a pie tin with their head cocked sideways looking at a mirror so they can figure out when to blow out the candle.   ;;D

Hi There,

I don’t know about the permanent damage but try this as it has help me.  An Ear Nose and Throat Doctor told me this one.  Get yourself some oxymetazoline hydrochloride nasal spray.  Lay down on your effected side, So if it is your right ear have the right side of your head down.  now despress the nasal spray in the right side of your nose.  What is going to happen is the medicine will enter the Eustachian Tube located in the back of your throat and connects the middle ear with the nasopharynx of the throat.  This Medication is used to help with stuffy nasal congestion.  It will also help the Eustachian Tube drain and might just help you!  Good Luck and have pain free days ahead.

Your Brother in Pain,

Becky
my ear is always "clogged" like that too.  There's nothing in there. it's like something or some pressure is closing it up. I dont think it's permanent because as you said it does open up sometimes. It's just the way it is. And  I don't sleep on that side either.

Once I went in to my GP wiht this and she couldn't find any other symptom to go wiht it to indicate a cold or allergy or anything. She said it was interesting and unusual that this was all by itself. We chalked it up to neuro weirdness.
