I don't want to lose my job but at the same time I can't perform my job anywhere near what I'm supouse to. Any help would help. Steve |

Title: Re: 6 a day! Post by manana on Sep 21st, 2004, 10:13am Do a search on here for Family Medical Leave. Then do a search for Disability. |

Title: Re: 6 a day! Post by notseinfeld on Sep 21st, 2004, 11:14am steve, my understanding is that SSA disability is about a year- long process filled with everything you'd expect in a government program. The good news is that it's retroactive though it won't put food on the plate while it's in process. The process of course requires a <gasp> attorney. In the meantime, my recommendation to you if I may give one is to 1. Start the water treatment right now. I mean RIGHT NOW as you're reading this. 2. Get a predisone script on 6 day taper to get some relief. |

Title: Re: 6 a day! Post by plateglass on Sep 21st, 2004, 11:51am thanks for the replys... Those ss benifits don't even seem worth it. The water I am going to do and the predisone I was on 2x's in the last month. Of course relief while on it but 1day after the last taper right back to where they started. Thank you again for your input |

Title: Re: 6 a day! Post by marfanoidus on Sep 21st, 2004, 12:12pm When I'm in the worst part of my cycles, I ususally get 6-8 a day, k7 or worse, so I can empathize with what you're going through. When my last cycle started, I talked to my boss and sent him some links so he could understand why I simply "may disappear sometimes" (you know what I mean). What kind of work do you do? Are you using O2 as a prevent? good luck to you, walt |

Title: Re: 6 a day! Post by Superpain on Sep 21st, 2004, 4:03pm If needed, the law allows you to take a medical leave of absence without fear of retribution from your employer. I had to take a month last time. |

Title: Re: 6 a day! Post by nani on Sep 21st, 2004, 6:35pm Superpain is correct. The Americans w/ Disabilities Act (ADA) requires employers to try to accomodate any changes necessary for employees health problems. The hard part is being able to take unpaid leave if you're out of sick time. :-/ |

Title: Re: 6 a day! Post by plateglass on Sep 21st, 2004, 7:24pm hey guys I'm home from work(early again!) That Medical Leave Act sounds great for what I'm going through, but I don't have any sick time left. So the disability was the route I was thinking of. Just to have some income coming in. Yes I am on 02 but you know it seems that if I don't start it in time... at the onset of HA it just takes longer and longer to work. Oh by the way I work in a cleanroom(suit, hood, mask goggles) Thanks again for everyones help. It really does help to have a place like this to go to When you need answers or just support........Steve |

Title: Re: 6 a day! Post by Tom K on Sep 22nd, 2004, 8:58am Man, I feel for you. Went this past weekend with 6 a day. Thought I was going to die! Went to the doc on Monday and had them give me another Trigger Point Injection. Seemed to help. Down to 4 a day now and they aren't as intense. Let us know how the Medical Leave Act works. I know about it because I'm a manager where I work, but have never used it or had any of my staff use it. T |

Title: Re: 6 a day! Post by EmpressJMB on Sep 22nd, 2004, 10:01am I took 6 weeks off once. Of course, I had to have backup from my doc. |

Title: Re: 6 a day! Post by Karla on Sep 23rd, 2004, 12:25pm The amount of disability that I receive is about 1/5 of what I was making. Just to give you a rough idea of what to expect for income. Plus you get additional funds for children at home under the age of 18. That puts my disability income at 1/3 what I was making with 3 kids. Two of my kids graduate this year. So I am hoping to get a job and go back to work because we can't afford any less income. |

Title: Re: 6 a day! Post by mynm156 on Sep 26th, 2004, 5:45pm To even apply for dissability you need to have been unable to work for 6 months. I know this because one of my coworkers is going to do it she has been off for almost three months now. It isnt much money but its better than nothing. Lets just look forward to PF days MYNM156 |

Title: Re: 6 a day! Post by don on Sep 27th, 2004, 10:38am Look closely at the ADA regs. What you are allowed under the act may depend on the size of your company, etc. Do you have a short term disability plan at work? |
