Title: Relief at last!!!!! Post by synergy on Aug 26th, 2004, 4:45pm [smiley=biggrin.gif] Marc started using the oxygen therapy yesterday and so far it has aborted 3 out of 4 attacks!!!! We dont want to get our hopes up too much but it is so hard not to - this is the first time something has worked. On the one attack that the oxygen didnt abort the beast - it did seem to stop the attack getting any worse, but marc said just concentrating on his breathing with the O2 helps. Im so happy i could cry - its so nice to see marc back again without that pain expression on his face - he managed to play with our baby daughter emma for over 2 hours today and feed her dinner without the beast stopping him!!!! I know the O2 wont work every time but even if it works just on one attack a day - thats better than what we had to deal with!! Thankyou to everyone and love and PF days to all!!! love sarah, marc and baby emma!! |

Title: Re: Relief at last!!!!! Post by Biker on Aug 26th, 2004, 8:33pm You may wish to consider getting a back up bottle of O2. Comes in real handy when one runs out. Glad something is working. Happy Day!!!!!! |

This is what I have happen too, In my experience when the O2 doesn't abort the HA it will maintain it at a more tolerable level BUT if I quit the O2 before the HA is completly gone it will come back at me with a vengence. dont know if Marc will have the same but I thought it was worth the warning. Breathe on ;;D |

Title: Re: Relief at last!!!!! Post by synergy on Aug 27th, 2004, 4:05am Thanks for the advice redrum - its still early days and we know not to expect it to work wonders everytime - we were told by ouch to stay on the oxygen for a further 5-10mins after the attack has gone just to make sure. Biker - we were prescribed 8 cannisters and we thought that would last a while! But marc has already used up one big cannister in 2 days!!! We are only allowed to get more cannisters once marc is on the last one. Thanks again to everyone! p.s marc had another night of success!!!! |

Don't EVER let him run out! If he's anything like Ramon - he'll keep O2 in the house all year long. YOu know, JUST IN CASE! There's also tricks you can use with the O2 - like getting it COLD. I dont know how -but I've heard people talking about it. Apparently it works better. I know someone knows how - i'm sure they'll speak up. Congratulations on the success! tina :-* |

Title: Re: Relief at last!!!!! Post by FZfan on Aug 27th, 2004, 8:48am fantastic news, sarah. so glad o2 is helping. I highly recommend continued breathing for 5 to 10 minutes after the attack aborts. Good job. I love o2 success stories. |

Title: Re: Relief at last!!!!! Post by synergy on Aug 27th, 2004, 11:51am Ive heard about cooling the o2 down - your supposed to put the hose in icy water or something like that - anyone know? Marc says it really hurts his lungs after about 5 mins on the o2 - is this normal? |

John is right. If you aren't humidifying the Oxy then it could be the trick to make it more comfortable. Having said that---> THREE CHEERS AND WHOOPEE! I love to read posts like this. Its victory dance time. http://davisasia.homestead.com/applause_1.gif PFDAN to all, |
