Title: One more Med related question Post by fun bobbi on Aug 20th, 2004, 1:54pm How long does it take before you start seeing results from Verapamil? What is a common dosage. I just started on a low dose. My Doc is awesome...better be, I travel 500km just to see a GP...but he doesn't know a whole lot about the treatments yet. He's researching though, that's a good sign. |

Title: Re: One more Med related question Post by IndianaJohn on Aug 20th, 2004, 2:31pm Hi bobbi, It usually takes up to 2 weeks for the verap to start working. It takes that long to build up in your system. I am on 480mg/day. Some go higher. PFDAN! John |

Title: Re: One more Med related question Post by Karla on Aug 20th, 2004, 3:25pm Sometimes you need to go up as high as 960mg a day. I tried that high of a dose and it still didn't help me. :( |

500 km doesn't seem like that far for someone that lives in the Northwest Territories. As we US-Americans know, the Northwest Territories includes all of Canada. ;) Glad he is researching things and willing to take serious aim before firing his prescription pen. That is a good sign. |

Title: Re: One more Med related question Post by karma on Aug 21st, 2004, 8:03am I started on Verapamil a week ago and was prescribed 240 mg per day. After alot of reading and some questions to the good folks here (thanks everyone) I boosted my self up to 480 three days ago. I have seen a dramatic reduction in the number of hits and the intensity. I'm now getting minor hits or just shadows at the sceduled times. This may be coincidence because my cycles have been relatively short in the past and it may be winding down but I don't think so. I don't recomend changing dosages w/o docs approval but I know my body and what I am feeling. John, Its great to see your feeling better. I hope the new regime comtinues to work. |

Title: Re: One more Med related question Post by pubgirl on Aug 21st, 2004, 8:15am Karma I'm glad you added the bit about getting doctor's approval because even more than that, the experts recommend an ECG to be done every time the Verap dosage is increased Wendy |
