Not being a wise guy here... but do you ever find your self second guessing the little things. like what you are suggesting... I sometimes forget that maybe i could have had an allergic reaction... or what does a "regular headache" feel like. Don't remember these things & while in cycle everything seems to be related to the CH. Go figure. Oh yeah answer: Maybe???LOL Eric |

Title: Re: Red Eye and no pain Post by Gator on Aug 15th, 2004, 11:27pm I can't remember if I ever did or not. My memory seems to be failing me more often. Sometimes the pain comes and then the watery eye comes, but as far as I can remember, if the eye starts - the headache is only a minute or so away. Here's hoping you are winding down. Gator |

Title: Re: Red Eye and no pain Post by UN_SOLVED on Aug 16th, 2004, 12:12am It is possible for people to have all the symptoms of CH without the pain. Sounds weird, I know ... but it's true and has been documented. These links are all talking about the same guy. Look : http://www.docguide.com/dg.nsf/printprint/b56e5a0e0b1b20df8525693500465b96 http://www.pslgroup.com/dg/1DC5EE.htm http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2000/08/000811062536.htm There's more info out there. Title: Re: Red Eye and no pain Post by eyes_afire on Aug 16th, 2004, 6:32pm Yes, it's possible. Been there, done that for a stretch of several months. Mine was more like blocked nose and burning eye but no full CH pain. Praise the gods. --- Steve edited to add: and I wasn't on any meds... wish I could say the same now. |

Absolutely happens. When I lived in So Cal I would get that kind of shadowing when the Santa Anna winds kicked up. Eventually it would resolve into a cycle and the pain would occur before the dripping began. This hasn't happened to me since then. However, something else is new...I have had attacks whereby the "drips" were not pronounced at all in spite of high-on-the-scale pain level. I suspect that the two symptoms are independently regulated/triggered. The possible condition differences could be the amount of antihistamine your body had at the time, or some other variable. It may also be related to a specific trigger. For example, I always get a huge amount of tearing, dripping, perspiration, flushing, if I have been triggered by msg. |

Title: Re: Red Eye and no pain Post by Dunnie on Aug 17th, 2004, 8:36am Yes. I have a watering right eye and it is blood shot to an extent, redness is evident. It is the same side as the CH also ( I won't say damn again, I must be like all of you and learn to live with this thing). At the time of the watering, I have what I think you call a shadow or this tighness in the head, not a pain as I have come to know and very far from it only this tighness on the right side of my head down near the temple area. |

Title: Re: Red Eye and no pain Post by BlueMeanie on Aug 17th, 2004, 12:12pm I posted then deleted my post because I am confused at what your saying. A shadow is the start of a CH. If you look at the KIP scale, a KIP 1-3 is shadowing which includes a red eye. As a CH starts moving up the scale the running eye begins follwed by the runny nose. The pain begins at a KIP 3-4. I think we get these so called Shadows and CH's mixed up. They are all CH's, just mild or strong. Just depends on how you like your coffee. My wife looks at me and sees my red eye. She says it about time for pain and I say yes it is. Usually within 10 minutes it's going up the scale until I either manage to abort or suffer the KIP 8-10. So I guess they all start out with the red eye thing. Good luck to you and sending PF Vibes. |
