Title: Neuros in Charleston, SC
Post by mellie on Jul 16th, 2004, 9:42am
Anybody here from Charleston, SC?  I need a new neuro--I don't think mine knows what in the hell he's talking about--he surely thinks I don't know what I'm talking about!!  He actually said that people who are chronic are having rebound headaches!!!!!!  Anyway, he did give me Imitrex (I wasn't leaving w/out it) and 120 mg of Inderal (which I don't think is helping, at all).  I've been in my cycle for 2 weeks now.   I've had episodic clusters for 10 years, I was just diagnosed with them 4 years ago (we've got a bunch of smarties around here).  I just want to know if anyone's from here and if they have a good neuro?

Hello,

I am on inderal it works for me but when in cycle i need to go to  320 mg . 160 mg every 12 hours and that seems to do the trick. when i get shadows i double up an that seems to do it.

There has been a lot of debate lately as to whether triptans can extend a cycle (via a rebound effect).  But people have been chronic with out taking triptans or other meds that cause rebound.

Here's a link to the 14 neuros listed in Charleston by the Medical University of South Carolina.  I have no experience with neuros in Charleston, and only a limited experience with docs in Columbia -  (Fond memories of being a Gamecock and developing clusters in SC!).

Of the neurologists listed, Walker and Pritchard are also listed as headache specialists.

Troy Gamble is a GP in Columbia, not a neuro....I went to the University of Charleston Medical College and was not very impressed...I am chronic and they were unable to help me ....I live in Columbia, SC if you are interested in traveling, I have a good neuro here.  Smiles, nancyc
