Title: Weird shadows
Post by Marijke on Jun 17th, 2004, 3:31pm
Strange things...
During many shadows lately (thx God verapamil 480mg/day only leaves that and no attacks), I have difficulty speaking. It's like the brain part that's related to language slows down enourmously. It's pretty scary. Any one else experienced this before?

That would concern me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is this common? That is definitely not a side effect that anyone wants but I guess not talking or pain???? hmm?
Anyway, Definitely contact the doctor!!

Good luck!

I'd say it's the verap...
It's got alot of mild but strange side effects for alot of people. Including feeling lethargic and "dumb"...
Hopefully the side effects should dissapate with time.

This is common in people with migraine.

I am not saying you have migraine, but a lot of CH sufferers do get odd migraines mixed in.

The speech thing, is it like your words come out jumbled, i.e you know what you want to say, but it is hard to say it?

If so its common during the aura part of migraine, you may have the two conditions running concurrently.

If you ever get to pick just one condition dump the CH and keep the migraine :)

Thanks for your reactions. Yes, it is like I know the words but the process of speaking itself becomes difficult somehow. Thought that was pretty mirgrainous, too. Never have migraine-like headaches though (attacks last for about 45 mins). Maybe I got the two. My mother had migraines. Guess I call the neuro to be sure.

I never got that with verap, never got anything with verap, but then, my neuro only had me take it up to 480mg and no more.

I did get that taking dopeamax, uh I mean Topamax.
