Title: Fibromyalgia and Clusters Post by purpleydog on Apr 30th, 2004, 9:19pm I am an episodic clusterhead with migraine too. I knew what was triggering the migraines, but the CH were from a totally different place [smiley=huh.gif] Last year at the end of May, we had a cold rainy day, and every muscle in my body ached :'( tapering off over 7 days. After that, I noticed I wasn't sleeping like usual. It was like I was asleep, but I still knew what was going on around me. I got restless legs at nite and started to be really tired, sleeping up to 12 hours with no rest. My body was aching, all my muscles hurt and I was becoming exhausted. I went to the doctor, he examined me, said I probably had fibromyalgia, and took blood to rule out it being anything else. He gave me elavil to help me sleep, and ultram for the pain. I of course researched this and found this : http:/www.sover.net~devstar/phsympt.htm This is a very good website for fibromyalgia and Chronic Myofascial Pain. The two often go together. Some of the symptoms apply to CH. It would be interesting to know if anyone else has any of these symptoms and could it (CH) be part a larger picture? purpleydog |

Sleep Paralysis. It's a scary thing. Brain malfunction. It can happen to anyone. If it happens too often, it can indicate a problem. I've had many experiences with sleep paralysis. Extremely scary thing. --- Steve |

Title: Re: Fibromyalgia and Clusters Post by Lizzie2 on Apr 30th, 2004, 10:29pm I've had fibro most my whole life...diagnosed finally at age 22. I got clusters last fall...I'm currently 23. Fibro sucks... :( Here's another good site: http://www.afsafund.org/ At my last hospitalization, I saw rheumatology again, and their diagnosis was polyalgia, fibromyalgia, fluid on knees, and reynauds. I don't know what was up with all that...never went back to rheumatology cuz I got sick of doctors and labels. LOL Best of luck w/it! Lizz |

Title: Re: Fibromyalgia and Clusters Post by purpleydog on Apr 30th, 2004, 10:56pm Thanks, Steve, for the lesson, I'll get the hang of it sooner or later :) I don't think what I had was sleep paralysis, because I could still move (although I have expereinced that before a couple times, yes, very scary ), it's more like lightly dreaming, and still hearing the dogs walk around, hearing the tv in the other room, and waking up whenever I turned over and then going back to sleep. Lizz, I know what you mean, I don't discuss my headaches or the fibro with anyone except my husband, altho I do see a rheum doc about every 3-4 months. He keeps me in my meds, elavil, ultram, skelaxin ( muscle relaxer). p |

Title: Re: Fibromyalgia and Clusters Post by Lizzie2 on May 1st, 2004, 12:18am Been on elavil, ultracet, and skelaxin. Most effective meds for me and fibro were zanaflex and lidocaine patches. I was put on prozac, but it had bad side effects and didn't help. Having a laptop has really helped me because now I can use my computer on my bed and change positions a lot. I can't work at a desk. Hurts too much!! Lizzie |
