Title: Only women can possibly answer this. Post by wsnyder on Apr 8th, 2004, 11:05pm I have often heard that the pain of a cluster attack can exceed the pain of giving birth. What truth is there to this? Bill |

Title: Re: Only women can possibly answer this. Post by tsayswhy on Apr 9th, 2004, 1:51am Hi wsnyder I think the whole thing is giving birth you go though the pain and it's over and after look what you have to show for the pain. It is all worth it, but CH you go though the pain and the only thing you have to show for it is the melted ice dripping off your head the affects of the meds. and the clock to tell you when the next one is coming. There's no joy in the end if there is an end :'( |

Title: Re: Only women can possibly answer this. Post by Superpain on Apr 9th, 2004, 2:45am Actually, I've said that for years... I've never given birth of course, but I guarantee if childbirth were as bad as clusters, most of us wouldn't be here! |

Title: Re: Only women can possibly answer this. Post by Tiannia on Apr 9th, 2004, 11:20am The issue with CH vs Cluster is there is an end to Child birth. With my first child I had preterm labor that they had to keep stoping. There was always the fear that I would lose the baby and the constant pain was unbearable. That is closer to the pain of CH. With my second child I did not have any issue until the end and di dnot have the mental strain that I had with the first. So yes I would have to say that it is worse, not because child birth is unpainful, but because once you are done there is a living being that makes it all worth it. Even though there are times when I feel like I will give birth to a deamon through my eye ball, it does not happen. :P |

Title: Re: Only women can possibly answer this. Post by no-one on Apr 9th, 2004, 1:18pm I have to agree child birth hurt like hell but in the end it was worth it, and there is an end in site. But with CH it hurts like hell and you have nothing to show for it and the only light at the end of that tunnel is an oncoming train. |

Title: Re: Only women can possibly answer this. Post by ZAIRA on Apr 9th, 2004, 4:57pm I don’t know ;;D! I have spoken with women CH sufferers from OUCH Italia and they said me that the childbirth is better than CH. :-/ Zaira |

Title: Re: Only women can possibly answer this. Post by FZfan on Apr 9th, 2004, 6:21pm I believe it's tough to tag any one thing as the most painful medical condition. I've witnessed the birth of both my children and I don't think I'd trade my clusters for that experience. Pain is really in the eyes of the beholder, so to speak. I had an appendicitis attack several years back that was far more painful than any cluster headache I've ever had. Of course, the difference is that removing the appendix (sp?) eliminates the pain. Other than that, I've never felt anything close to the pain of a CH, and that includes kidney stones. oops! I apologize. I just read the subject line and realized I wasn't supposed to anwer this. :-[ |

Title: Re: Only women can possibly answer this. Post by Karla on Apr 9th, 2004, 6:30pm childbirth is a lot easier than ch and I gave birth to twins 1 1/2 hrs apart. The gallbladder attacks I was suffering from were as intense as ch. |

Title: Re: Only women can possibly answer this. Post by Prense on Apr 9th, 2004, 6:32pm I have had my thumb near amputated by a propeller from a RC airplane (@ approx 15,500) rpm. It does not even come close to the pain associated with a CH attack even though my thumb hurt like hell for a couple of weeks. A stab wound to my leg took 2nd fiddle to the thumb incident. There is no doubt in my mind that CH and possibly TN are the most painful conditions among non life threatening conditions. Chris |

Title: Re: Only women can possibly answer this. Post by cipher_cat on Apr 24th, 2004, 12:48pm i've had natural childbirth. (i cheated and had an epidural the second time) i've also been paralyzed from inflamed kidneys, pinched nerves, had epidural needles readjusted, broken bones, had muscle torn by kicking horses and pretty much nothing can compare to the clusters i have 9-15 times every single day. even doped up on meds the clusters are far worse. yet the reason i live through them all is because i have two of the greatest kids ever to live for. =) |

Title: Re: Only women can possibly answer this. Post by Little Deb on Apr 24th, 2004, 10:39pm I would have a child with no meds every day for the rest of my life if I could to never have another cluster attack. I am a natural at giving birth quickly, but even if I had to have hours of labor, I know it would be better than a cluster. here's to the babies! [smiley=me&mb.gif]....Little Deb |
