good morning all..new jersey "king of pain" here...just trying to figure out this site...i've been suffering for the past 15 days or so and am starting to hit my peak...and running out of imitrex is my worst nightmare...thanks for the support

Welcome aboard..have you tried amerge or zomig yet for abortives? Glad you took some time to read.

thanx man...i've tried zomig in the past...what do u mean by abortives?...imitrex works really well for me as long as i catch it in time...if i've got a full stomach forget it...i've been takin 200 mg at a time and am worried about tolerance buildup or rebound dang i hate this shish' thanks for listening

thankyou, nothin works for me except imetrex...im a classic case of crushing mind-blowing pain for about a month usually around the winter soltice...i hope im hitting my peak....thanx for the support

Abortive are used to stop the acute attack, preventives are used to stop the attacks from happening, have you tried O2?

i've tried o2, doesnt work, im a basket case when it comes to CH's!! we've all been down this bloody road and have been given so much advice from so many people..this is the first time in my life i've actually spoken to other people with CH...what a revelation!!!!! i could honestly cry right now (i never do that,really)...

Go ahead and cry, we're here and we ain't leavin'. Read all of the stuff on the left. Good preventive treatments are a prednisone and verapamil combo, some like myself have had luck with melatonin, there is also lithium which has worked for some. Read REad REad. Get an appt with a neuro.

We understand your pain unfortunately. My cycle starts in November, I hate November. I hate everything about November. I am trying to figure out how to avoid it.

But at least if you are here, we will listen to ya scream and cry. I just got finished screaming!

Keep trying different prevents and aborts. It is amazing how something will work for one person and not another. We all seem to find different things that work. I discovered hot strong coffee helps me some.

Welcome to the sight. Yes,this place makes you realize your not alone with this. These things really suck.
Like Thomas said, get a neuro if you hav'nt already. and go equipped with info from here.

Welcome HunterDon.

It sounds like you're using the Imitrex pills. You know there is a spray and injection. They both work alot faster and they do not upset your stomach.

Thomas' suggestion about Amerge helped me alot. It's a little slower, but if you take it right away, it usually works.

Lots of preventives out there. As someone said already: All the meds work different for each of us.

Stick around. This place is insane, but believe it or not, it keeps you from going insane sometimes. Sounds crazy I know.
