Title: Does it ever end?
Post by chrisconey69 on Dec 31st, 2003, 2:20am
Im 34 these days and have suffered from these headbanging headaches since i was 22.They started out episodic and slowly turned chronic by the time i was 25.I've been to numerous neurologists and have had a couple tell me that some folks tend to shake them in their mid 30's only to have them  return again in their late 40's to early 50's.Has anyone been told similiar stories or know of this to be in the least bit true?
                     Tired and desperate,Chris

No, it does not.

You and I are the same in that retrospect.  I have had these since I was 23.  Mine also started out as episodic and turned chronic.  As we age with this condition we are prone to a more serious arteritis.  I have founf that written in a few different sites.

Hi Chris,
Welcome to the board.
Never heard that about these ha's.  I am 56 and NEVER had a CH till 2 years ago.  I am also female.....and they say females don't get CH.  So, there is nothing certain about CH, except for the pain.

Read the info located in the links on the left.  You will find some very good info there.

Tell us more about your ha's, and what meds you have taken in the past.

There is usually someone here 24/7.

Stay here and post and let us know how you are doing.  The support here is the best!

PF vibes to you,

Jean

Chris,

I have suffered since 23.  They gradually became longer cycles and by 34 I was pretty bad with only a few weeks in between solid cycles.  I really went full time chronic at 34/35, and they just ended a few weeks ago ( I am 38 ).  It can/will end someday.  They once ruled my life, and I thought there was no hope.  Being here convinced me that there was hope, and in fact I am now pain free, so this hope was not in vain.  It won't be in vain for you either, just know that it will end.

Hi Chris and welcome to the board.
I started CH at 26 and have had them (episodic) for 22 years. This is the first year I skipped them though so I am hoping age is a factor and maybe the beast just doesnt care much for me anymore.

Suzy
ps  Congrats to you Shawn and I hope you are enjoying your PFDANs

Hey Chris.  Welcome.

Not in my world.  27 years episodic.  Sorry.

Hang out.  You will get what you need here.

Good for you fubar.

I am 35 and had CH since I was 10.  Yep, I am female and remember we don't get CH.

I have years where my cycle is longer than others and then another year it will be shorter.  My fear is that it will turn chronic.  I don't know how I would handle that.

Hey Chris-welcome,
I'm entering my 5th year with these things. I'm also(for the next couple weeks) 34.
This was my first year with proper treatment. I have complete confidance in my neurologist, though I was told that if I quit smoking, stay on a low dose of Verapamil out of cycle, chances are very high that I won't ever get them again. If that happens"WHOOHOO!-----FUCKENAAHH!" but I'm not bankin'on it.
All the "medical statistics" in all the books can't be as accurate as the accounts you will read here. In my humble opinion of course.
seeya,
....Mark..

It might. Then again, it might not.

Hows that for a definitive answer. I should run for political office.

Seriously though, WTF is definitive about CH other than the pain?

Starting year 25 tommorro. Maybe one day there will be a cure. Not yet though. Hell it might end up being one of those snake oils. Ya never know.

Chris, Welcome to the board, stick around, this place is where you need to be, read, read, read, learn as much as you can, I'm fairly confident these things will leave you someday and you'll forget how bad they even were, for now just take it one at a time and make the best of your pf times. ClusterHeads are strong people!
