Hello all,

I have an upcoming neuro appointment set in February so I can get a rule out of secondary conditions. Since I have been put on Verapamil 240MG I have not had the painful episodes as much...matter of fact there is only slight pain during my attack periods...no longer any eye or sinus symptoms.

I am curious to know, however, won't the Neurologist want to see me in my full blown condition to make the proper findings?

I reckon ya could ifn ya want................but why would ya wanna do that? Doesn't it hurt enough?

He'll take a look at your film and hopefully ask pertinant questions regarding your attacks (hopefully alot) and probably prescribe meds. I would print some info out for him anyway. Hopefully he'll get it right the first time, any bets?

Welcome to the Clusterville nuthouse !

I don't think the Neuro needs to see a KIP 10.

If you answer all the questions that fits a typical Clusterhead; and assuming the neuro knows anything about cluster headaches, you should be fine.

Did you take the cluster quiz ?

You should read everything you can before your appointment. Print pertinent info to take with.

Only time I've ever had docs witness my attacks is in the ER...

Hell no......don't wish the beast to visit....if the neuro knows his stuff all you need to do is tell him about yourself and what is going on, if not educate him. Read all the info here and check out the OUCH website. Go in prepared and like stated above print it out.

Welcome Furrfish. Glad to have ya.

Having a cluster attack would no doubt help him eliminate several mis-diagnoses but hopefully, he'll pay some attention anyway. Be sure to let him know that you actually have this horror if you do. You have to stand your ground. Ch doesn't have the variations of something like epilepsy and it's less important, I believe.

35 years ago I had an epileptic seizure in the company of an MD. He took notes but I was told it was nothing out of the ordinary. After several doctors and all that time, I doubt they exist or are relevant in any case.

Thanks for all of your replies.

I took the cluster quiz and have spent numerous hours conducting research on this beast.

I am wondering though...

My doctor made a diagnosis of cluster headaches back in September of this year. I have been having these since 1999. I was misdiagnosed as having tension headaches then. Does this neurologist also have to make a diagnosis of cluster headaches above and beyond what my doctor has said?

I have kept track of my headaches daily now since september and see no point in continuing this...if you are like me...you are waisting the paper. (I have about fifty pages worth and I doubt that anyone is going to take the time to read them.

I also want to know if any of you in adition to your CH's also suffer from frequent headaches lasting about 1-30 seconds that feel like a knife was stuck in your eye.

Also have any of you had any other symptoms in conjuction with your CH's...

Like once a month migraine (with migraine symptoms)

In addition to my clusters,

about once every month or so I get a bad migraine beginning with tunnel vision and all the same conditions of the clusters but a few more.

1. Tunnel Vision
2. My left arm is completely numb
3. Dizziness
4. Nausea
5. Light & Sound sensitivity.

There are alot of different types of headaches. Some people on this site say they get CH's & migraines. I'm sure it's possible to get sinus infection headaches and others like hangovers etc. Just because you get CH's doesn't make you ammune to other types.

The difference is if you get other type headaches you will NOT get clusters. Unless of course your a Clusterhead !!

They are definately clusters.

Like what was mentioned above...I have also been seen in the ER. And for the Neuro doc with trouble believing...I have even had my wife take pictures of my face and eye to show him/her.
