Well, it's seems like a million years since I posted about this, but it's probably only a few days. Who knows. Having a hard time trying to deal with the pain.

Christopher went in the hospital 10 days ago. Low BP, fever, and low WBC count. They decided that waiting to do the stem cell replacement was probably not an option. So for the first 9 days, they increased his BP and tried to get him ready. They did the first "harvest" today. If they got enough, he will be ready to come home in a few days, if not, he will stay and they will "harvest" again. They have tested his family for compatibilty so if he doesn't have enough stem cells to replenish his imune system, they will then have his family as a backup to donate.

They are still gonna give him the two weeks until Christmas to regenerate and try and get his imune system back up before blasting him with the chemo. For now, the plan is right after Christmas to blast him with the massive doses of chemo and kill everything. Then re-insert the stem cells.

Keep him in your prayers and pray our Lord somehow finds some relief for his mom, dad & siblings. They could use it.

Damn this tears me up. Why can't an old fart like me take it for him? I think about him so often! Let him know that his family is pulling for him!

Hi Nancy....newbie here...but, I wanted to let you know that i have added you and Christopher to a prayor chain that is Illinois and goes clear to Utah amoung other states. (my sister does them for my brother in law who is batteling cancer rite now too) so, i hope you find some small amount of comfort knowing that alot more ppl will be praying.

I got him some games and software for his puter, from the Christopher Collection, so maybe his hospital stay won't be so boring.

Thanks for all the prayers and keep em coming. The stem cell harvest only produced 10% of what they need for a successful transplant, so Chris will be staying in the hospital. They will attempt to do it 3 more times before he comes home to harvest what they need. His blood counts just aren't high enough to produce the stem cells required.

On a good note however, he actually managed to eat yesterday. The doctors gave him a new drug to help aid in his appetite and to keep it down. My sister said within an hour of receiving the new drug, he was smiling his old bright smile and saying that he was hungry. He ate and kept it down. When the doc came in later to check on him, my sister asked what the new drug was. He told her Marinall (sp ?, yea, mariuana). She said she started laughing and crying at the same time. She told the doc, "for 16 years I have kept this kid drug free .. and you turn him on to pot ?" ... she said she couldn't stop laughing. I say smoke em if ya got em !!!!!! (although his was pill form) Whatever works.

Anyways, keep the prayers up, and hope the docs keep giving him whatever he needs to keep him going.
