Title: Last words.... Post by samurai on Nov 20th, 2003, 12:23am I didn't mean it to sound too somber, but Fri. night is my last night as a civilian. I am on active duty now, which is why I haven't been around and posting much. Sat. morning I move into barracks on Ft. Lewis and go into lockdown. I may get some time for holiday breaks, but I don't know. The good news is that I have been pain free for two weeks!!!!!! I am getting healthier by the day! You guys really helped me deal with the frustration of my latest episode, and I can't thank you all enough. For those that don't know where I'm going, I will train here at Ft. Lewis in Washington in Urban Warfare until Feb. In Feb. my unit, Bravo company of the 161st Infantry Regiment, goes into Iraq. Probably Baghdad, definitely the Sunni Triangle. My battalion is to be a quick reaction force, ready to go after whackos that try to hurt our guys stationed over there. [smiley=bigguns.gif] I have given this site's address to my Mom, and she will post my address, at Ft. Lewis and when we go in country. I will be thinking of the great welcome I got when I discovered this site, and the great people I've met. I look forward to sharing the stories with you all when I get back! Now, remember, this whole adventure is going to be soooooo temporary you will wonder if it really happened. Sort of like my recent neck surgery...........well, maybe you won't be getting pain meds round the clock like I did. So, just forget that last part. You KNOW that what you are doing is important and IT DOES COUNT! For the rest of your life you will know that you stepped up to make a difference. Not many achieve this distinguished distinction. Sorry to hear that you are heading out, but know that your service to this great Country will not go unnoticed. It's good that you gave your Mom the website addy. We will certainly look forward to hearing from her. Hope she lets us know a.s.a.p. where you are. When possible, we can even send you some "snail mail." 8) I am so happy that you found this site.....and it's great that in some small way, you were able to make some friends and be able to cope with CH.
