Title: Hey you Musical Clusterheads...... Post by Peppermint on Nov 16th, 2003, 12:41pm I know there are a lot of you out there for which music is an integral part of of your life. I've seen a number of posts relating to that in some way. How does it tie in with your clusters? Or does it? This is a story I'm working on so I'd like you to respond by email if you have a reply, and I'll give you more details, etc., when I hear back from you. Or if that won't work for ya, if you'd like to participate but want to know more in advance, please post here and say yes, and I will send you an email. I reeeeallly would appreciate your responses, and you WILL get to read them... but ... If you post it here, then it ain't news. ;;D Waiting with fingers at the ready, Peppermint [smiley=curtain.gif] Modified: You don't have to play an insrument for music to be significant in this way... just something to think about... |

Title: Re: Hey you Musical Clusterheads...... Post by Paigelle on Nov 17th, 2003, 4:51pm I listen to music constantly. I always put a CD on that I love when I am in pain. Something about that helps to drown out other things. Use to always date guitar players also, but that is another story. |

Title: Re: Hey you Musical Clusterheads...... Post by Paigelle on Nov 18th, 2003, 11:15am I think it is the noise factor when playing the guitar. Of course a guitar player I dated gave me headaches. [smiley=laugh.gif] |

Title: Re: Hey you Musical Clusterheads...... Post by Jimi on Nov 18th, 2003, 11:24am [smiley=nopity.gif] I'm with Jewell, Pep. Years and years ago when I was having them and didn't know what they were and was taking nothing for them. I used to put on an album when I was home and felt one coming on. It was the Door's Greatest Hits. By the time the front side was finished, it was usually gone. No clue why I chose that one. I love music, like to sing etc but cannot find any correlation betwixt the two now. Sorry Babe! [smiley=nono.gif] |

Title: Re: Hey you Musical Clusterheads...... Post by ClusterChuck on Nov 18th, 2003, 2:02pm Music is a MUST when I am getting hit. Although, I tend to listen to music SLIGHTLY different from what others have mentioned. Verdi's Requiem, especially Requiem, and Liber scriptus. My other BEAST special is Mozart's Don Giovanni, especially Madamina, il catalogo e questo. These are the music passions that I turn to, to fight the beast. Chuck |

Title: Re: Hey you Musical Clusterheads...... Post by simplevox on Nov 18th, 2003, 6:36pm I sing in a band, but usually have to take a break from it when I am "in season". I absolutely love to perform, but the older I get, and the more CHs I get, the more that part of my life seems to get put on the back burner. Score one for the beast! :'( you can listen to my band's music at: www.simpleband.com |

Title: Re: Hey you Musical Clusterheads...... Post by Carl_D on Nov 18th, 2003, 6:51pm Anyone who knows me will tell you, I am a music freak! I eat, sleep, talk, listen, breath, feel music 24/7. I love all kinds of music, even some classical, new age, jazz/fusion, and classic rock, but it seems that once I started getting CH, my own music began to get very dark. I have written things many will never see. I take all of my anger, rage, violence, and destruction not on people, not on the establishment. I take it out with a pen and paper. I take it out on my screams. I take it out in my music and performance. Many are shocked when they hear the mellower stuff I have done at the contrast. Now I scream in my bands song "Arrival" to the cluster demons... "...For all the years you held me back - fuck you all - I HAVE ARRIVED!" Can anyone relate? God bless Randy Rhoads and Jeff Buckley - two artists way beyond thier time that left way too soon! Now, if anyone dare DOWNLOAD MUSIC ILLEGALLY - WELL as a musician I have to say this : SHAME ON YOU! Bad cop, no donut. God forbid someone actually download a song or more from you, get in to it so much that they have to buy that CD, that DVD - the fricken $90.00 concert Jersey! Gimme a fricken break! If filesharing should be banned, then so should sacrotized media. I would be honored if somebody downloaded my stuff, and was when I got some response from my own music being downloaded on MP3.com/former. Free the music. Now, if you dare, download the song "Hallelujah" from Jeff Buckley. I almost have to hide away from others when I hear it because it is one song that can bring me to tears. If anyone agrees, let me know. I listen to it all, but onstage in a rage - I am a headbanger! [smiley=headbanger.gif] Carl D |

Title: Re: Hey you Musical Clusterheads...... Post by Paigelle on Nov 18th, 2003, 7:00pm I do miss Randy Rhoads! |

Title: Re: Hey you Musical Clusterheads...... Post by 5-string on Nov 18th, 2003, 7:32pm I am a profesional musician. Like Carl D. I eat, breathe, sleep music. I have since the age of 4. Music is my religion. It has saved my life(and I mean that literally) several times. It keeps me at peace with myself and the world. I've toured and recorded and, yes, have had full-on attacks while doing so. But the music reminds me that life is a good thing everyday. When I'm feeling a strong shadow I can leave the pain/discomfort through playing. Full on attack, forget it but music can take me to a place that nothing else can. I don't know why or how exactly but that's just the way it's always been for me. And I am thankful for that gift. Other than that I'm pretty much a spiritual moron. ;) ...Mark.. |

Title: Re: Hey you Musical Clusterheads...... Post by Paigelle on Nov 18th, 2003, 7:38pm This may be a shot in the dark, but it seems most of us are pretty creative. I was a art major and love music. You are so right, it can take you away from pain of any kind. It has gotten me through breakups, deaths, and all sorts of stuff. I sometimes draw when I am hit. It helps to release the anger that comes with the pain. |

Title: Re: Hey you Musical Clusterheads...... Post by violet on Nov 18th, 2003, 7:48pm I am a professional musician and a music teacher. Music is a part of my physical chemistry. My ears are my most important sensory organ. Sometimes during a cluster, I hear the same song over and over again in my head. Could have been any song that was floating around in my subconcious. It keeps repeating, and I can't stop it. Kind of wierd, and my Neuro says it's from the lack of oxygen in my brain. Kind of a pleasant hallucination. It would be neat, if it weren't for the pain. Title: Re: Hey you Musical Clusterheads...... Post by Mac on Nov 19th, 2003, 12:43pm When I was first diagnosed by my specialist he had asked me several "personality " questions. When he found out that I was a professional musician and artist he nodded his head knowingly and classified me as an "A" personality although I have always considered myself a "B".That has really got me wondering. Since I started coming to this site I have noticed a lot of music and art threads.Could this be a clue into the cause/effect of these damn headaches? It would be interesting to do a survey of the members to see if there is a higher preponderance of "artistes" in the exploding eye club. As far as using art to help me get through a shadow or attack, if jamming a pencil in my eye or banging my head repeatedly on my amp qualify then yes I do use my art ;) http://www.artwanted.com/images/large/3248_6169.jpg |

Title: Re: Hey you Musical Clusterheads...... Post by BlueMeanie on Nov 22nd, 2003, 5:01pm Music keeps me occupied during a cluster. My wife goes nuts thinking I should turn it off. I try to tell her sound doesn't bother a CH. Only light. I went to a Moody Blues concert and sure enough, as soon as the 2nd song started, a CH started. Had to keep my eyes closed the whole time, but the sound sure was great !! :) |
