Title: Oh Yeah! Post by Mark C on Nov 5th, 2003, 11:54am My newest weapon against the beast.....A very big thanks to the folks who helped me with this project, your help has been indispensable...you know who you are! [smiley=bow.gif] The only problem I am having is the "Fungus Therapy" has worked so well the only thing I have done with the O2 is kill just a few shadows....life is good. I do have a few questions about it's use and what do you do...at 15 LPM the bag stays FULL....at even 10 LPM the bag stays full....and how do you breath....really deep like hyperventaliting or do you just set it and forget it and breath normal for the 10 or maybe 15 minutes it takes to work. Do I want to try and empty the bag with every breath? Just a few rambling thoughts from a new O2 user. ;;D PFDAN's Mark |

Title: Re: Oh Yeah! Post by Karla on Nov 5th, 2003, 12:02pm I always used o2 at 10-12 litters for 10-15 min. Just breath normal and natural. No deep or heavy breathing needed. Just ignore the bag it should have no bearing in how you are breathing. I am happy to hear the fungus is working for you. Yeah!!! |

Title: Re: Oh Yeah! Post by JDH on Nov 5th, 2003, 12:29pm Great news Mark, hoping it continues for you. Nice to hear of another success story w/'shrooms...amazing isn't it? As for the 02, it's hard to do when you're getting hit upside the head but just lean forward and try and breath normal through the mask. Jim |

Title: Re: Oh Yeah! Post by ClusterChuck on Nov 5th, 2003, 1:16pm Mark, I had trouble with my eyes, virtually becoming blind, a short time ago that may have been caused by the O2. Evidently, direct, 100% O2, to the surface of your eyes is not good. What I used to do is inhale, and then lift the mask (at the top) to exhale, as I was not sure that the "valve" was closing properly to keep the exhaled air from mixing into the bag. I would also lift the mask up and put it above my nose, sort of over my eyebrows and eyes, as I used a tissue to blow my nose (I am one of the ones that have a "faucet" nose during a hit). I ran out of O2 for two weeks, and that is when my vision cleared back up. I no longer do those things, and am aware of keeping direct flow of O2 away from the eyes, since I have started back with the O2. I have not had any trouble with my vision since. I am not positive it was the O2 that caused my vision problems, but it is something to keep in mind. A question I have for those experienced users is this: When you stop using the O2 after 15 to 20 minutes, because it is not working, how long do you wait before trying it again? This is for hits that last an hour or longer. Do you wait 20 minutes before slapping it on again? Or not at all during that hit? Or what? Glad you now have an O2 setup, Mark, and hope it works wonders for you! PFDAN Chuck |

Title: Re: Oh Yeah! Post by BruceD on Nov 5th, 2003, 2:34pm Kewl. It's good to hear you're doing so well. When I use O2 I start with it cranked to 15lpm and deep breath ... inhale through the nose ... exhale out the mouth. For bad ones (middle of the night) I found myself almost wanting to hyperventilate, but really try not to do so. I've also gotten into the habbit of holding my thumb over the open holes on the mask during inhalation ... therefore the bag deflates more rapidly. When I feel the HA easing up, I usually turn down the flow rate to conserve oxygen. Don't know if that's right, but it works for me and I'm sticking with it. ;;D Hope you continue to have PFDANs! Take care BruceD |

Take care of it! ;;D 15 lit/min for 10-15 min and (my) beast goes away.... not always! >:( BTW, Good Luck and PFDAN to you, Zaira :-* |

Title: Re: Oh Yeah! Post by BarbaraD on Nov 5th, 2003, 3:22pm Mark, For me, if it doesn't work the first time - try something else. It never has worked the second or third (on the same HA). But that's me. Hugs BD |

Title: Re: Oh Yeah! Post by Roxy on Nov 5th, 2003, 3:23pm Great !! I bow to the 02 bottle.....[smiley=bow.gif]. Glad you have it, but I'm really glad you aren't having to use it... ;;D My 02 is always set at 15lpm, and I empty the bag everytime I breathe, I like those big lung full breaths. Usually don't stay on it any longer than 10 minutes. I've found out that if it's not gone in that length of time, for me.....it isn't going to go away. Hope the other treatment keeps kicking ass, T |

BINGO!!!...thats how I work the sucker, its like the dudes that run or do squats...you want to get the 02 in fast and lots of it. BruceD,...You should have NO holes in your mask, if you do its not a non-rebreather, a non-rebreather has round rubber bladders over the holes on each side so no room air gets in the mask when you inhale. .....................................jonny |

Title: Re: Oh Yeah! Post by ave on Nov 5th, 2003, 4:46pm I am so happy for you, Mark. I was wondering if your head continued to be good... And Chuck, I don't have a non-rebreather mask, just a nose-mouth mask, and when I exhale I lift it too, but at the bottom only! Having slight overbite helps! |

Title: Re: Oh Yeah! Post by Mark C on Nov 5th, 2003, 5:50pm Thanks guys for the answers, This seems to be like most other CH treatment abortives....if the first one don't get it the second one prolly won't either. I feel so lucky to have all you guys ( and gals! ) helping. My whole attitude is change toward fighting this beast.....I feel an Army of Clusterheads pushing me foward....how cool is that. Never in 27 years I have I broke a cycle...till now....tell me this palce ain't a Godsend......Thanks again DJ! Hell yeah! It's about time we win one! Title: Re: Oh Yeah! Post by BruceD on Nov 5th, 2003, 6:19pm Jonny, Rubber bladder ... schmubber bladder ... I just don't trust the thing to really close the holes up. Actually, the ones that I have only have the bladder on one side (although I put another old bladder on the other side) That's why I press down on 'em with my thumb. Later BruceD |

That's when I stab! I know that isn't an option for everyone. What I am seeing more often than not is: - HA starts, go for the O2 - 12LPM for 15 mins - HA will "normally" drop to almost nothing in 12 or so mins. - After stopping the O2, the beast is back in about 20 mins. I have also tried at 15LPM for 15 mins. Same thing...it's about 50/50, but that beats the shit out of nothing. Chris |

Title: Re: Oh Yeah! Post by 9erfan on Nov 5th, 2003, 6:58pm Good news Mark! I don't even have one of those bubbler bottles. Is that a problem? I haven't noticed any probs with my throat getting dry. At 15lpm, my h/a's have been stopping at 8-10 minutes. Not bad. I do tend to breath a little deeper than normal, fyi. |
