Title: Going to Iraq.
Post by samurai on Oct 31st, 2003, 2:39am
I was just contacted an hour ago, with news that we are mobilizing on November 15th. I just found you guys and I'm leaving in a few weeks!  :'(
I have to be done with this episode by then. I will free myself through sheer willpower!
On the 15th my unit goes on active duty for a quick train up specific to the mission. Then we ship. From what we're told we will be going to Baghdad, to the northern part of the city as a peacekeeping and terrorist hunting force. We will deal with those whackos who are killing people, and we will help get the Iraqi people policing themselves. The sooner we can get them on their own feet the sooner all our guys can come home!

Don't get me wrong, I am VERY patriotic and VERY proud to be American.  I have never served in the Armed Forces, but did go to military school when I was "troubled treenage cluster sufferer."  So here is some "Food for Thought"....If you are still having a cycle, you may consider the benefits of NOT going to Iraq.  You have a medical condition that COULD prevent you from serving our country's best interest.  I'm hoping that all is well for you and you can go if that is what you want, but there MAY be other options serving the USA here at home.  Something you may want to consider.  Good luck.

I wish you all the best as you prepare yourself to enter that war torn city.  I have no referance point to relate to what you are walking into - my fight was jungle and rice patty.

Cover your back side.  Take nothing for granted.

Thank you for stepping forward in defense of this country.

   Thank you everyone!
I will post my unit # and most of the address before I leave. Hopefully that will be enough, as we don't know exactly what city/ area we'll be in yet.
Gregg, I hear you and I couldn't agree more. The last thing I want to do is put one of my buddies in danger! My hope is that this episode follows my normal cycle. If so it should be done in about a week. If I were to get an attack on deployment, I would go on sick call. Like I said, as much as I want to help, I DO NOT want to unnecessarily endanger anyone!

Hi guy!

Please know that you and yours will be in the thoughts and prayers of many grateful people.  I truly believe that the work in which you will be engaged is honorable and heroic.  To bring self determination and power to the citizens of Iraq...wow!

Go with honor, courage, strength, perseverance and our thanks!!!!!

Be careful and let us hear from you from over there.  Give an address...you never know, something good might show up.

Might want to go with a road map (back to these United States) too.    ;) ;) ;)

I’m so sorry for the news. :'(

The thing you are going to do makes you an “HERO”, as all the others in Iraq.....

Good luck, Zaira :-*

Jason ...Everyone here will sheild you with prayers as we did for my son Sean who has returned after being deployed for 9 months... You will be ok.... I am so proud to know you, and that you are one of the brave young patriots of our country.  Though you are suffering, you are still concerned about your comrades and their safety.  There is a good chance that your cycle will end because of increased stress and adrenalyne that your body will produce.  It doesnt sound like a great trade off but usually CH hits during resting time.... Good luck and Do be sure to leave an address... Come back to us safely and if you get a chance to email please do... Update often... My other son Scott will be joining you in Iraq January 2004 he is with the 1st Cav... then Sean again deploys in May unless he changes his duty station... Proud of you Ree

Rotten disease,
Rotten timing,
Rotten place to have to go.

I'm sure you'll do just fine for them and us though. Make sure you drop in and tell us all you can about this mess.

Tons of clusterheads are behind you. Take care of yourself.

Charlie
