Title: Seeking NJ Clusterheads Post by NJ_Writer on Oct 29th, 2003, 11:50pm Greetings, fellow survivors! I'm the Arts & Entertainment editor for a chain of weekly newspapers in North-Central New Jersey. For some inexplicable reason, the Health pages fall under my artistic domain, and (once and for all) I'm going to take advantage of a readership of 80,000 and do a story on these damn headaches! Within my territory (Union and Essex counties) there are quite a few major hospitals, so I'll have no trouble getting a doctor or two to agree to an interview about the clinical end of things ... BUT (and here's where my neighbors come in) I also want to interview some sufferers, preferably from Union and Essex -- get THEIR side of it. As the writer of the piece, I can't insert myself into the story (but I WILL do a first-person sidebar to go with it). If there are any of you out there from NJ, preferably from Union or Essex, please contact me. We need to make our pain known to the world, and if I'm in a position to do that, then I can't in good conscience pass up the opportunity. I don't know if it's this site's policy to allow e-mail addresses within posts, so I'll wait and see who responds before I give out contact information. Thanks, in advance, to anyone who can help me educate the world, beginning with our little corner in the Garden State. Bill |

Title: Re: Seeking NJ Clusterheads Post by maggie_may on Oct 30th, 2003, 9:20am Hi Bill, There's quite a few of us here in NJ - I being one of them. But I think lots of us live more in the southern end of the state. You can ask Ozzman about that (he's the president of the PA/NJ OUCH chapter). I also think that its great that you're interested in writing a piece for your paper on CH. It's a great way to get it out to the public about it! I used to live in Union county - Roselle to be exact - until I moved up to Bergen county two years ago, and I've had episodic CHs since I was about 14 (now 25, almost 26). I'd be willing to talk with you if ya can't find someone with a better story (and I'm sure there's someone with one). maggie ps... which paper do you write for? if you can tell us that is... |

Title: Re: Seeking NJ Clusterheads Post by ozzman on Oct 31st, 2003, 11:24am Bill, It is a great idea and exposure is something we are always looking to improve. Are you a clusterhead as well? You are very welcome to join our PANJ Chapter. I have contacted some of our members that live in your newspaper area. If you want I can give you something about the local chapter and its organization and goals. My email is: ozzy@ouchpanj.org Ozzy |

Title: Re: Seeking NJ Clusterheads Post by NJ_Writer on Oct 31st, 2003, 3:09pm Ozzy: Yes, I'm also a clusterhead -- I've been living with them episodically for about 20 years now. Please forward me info on the PANJ Chapter, not just for the story I'm working on, but for me as well! I believe my e-mail address will be listed with this; if not, it's mrwritenj@comcast.net. Thanks, not only for the help on this article, but for the support in general! Bill |
