Title: Re: Disability Post by Prense on Oct 2nd, 2003, 7:19pm IMHO, I think you should focus more energy on finding a way not to go that route. I went undiagnosed for 7 years...chronic, no meds, no nothing and I worked every day. It's tough, but I know that I am not the only one who gets through it. I still do not have a working preventative and only recently was prescribed an abortive that works. (that took 3 years) If I have an employer that is not willing to work with this, then I do not want to work for him/her anyway. Beyond that, if you have exhausted all medical means to cope with CH, I would say go for it. Best wishes! Chris |

Title: Re: Disability Post by Dave_Emond on Oct 3rd, 2003, 3:08am Send me an E-mail about your situation. Give me as much information as you can think of, from losing jobs because of CH, any form of benefits you might have, veteran?, doctors, neurologists, medications, etc. I can guide you through the process, however, only if you are willing to be completly honest. I will in no way back anything suspicious. You will have to remember also, you must be willing to work, if you are sincere in that, I will help you. There will be plenty of paperwork, repeated over and over and it will take time. SSA will not pay much, it is only assistance. Any type of work in the meantime should be attempted, as long as you're not endangering others. But, there are plenty of jobs you can find that may not be in your field or even ones you like, but take them. You show a willingness to become self sufficient and seriously follow through, I will be willing to help. I'm not coming down on you, I understand the frustratation, but I will only help those who are willing to do everything possible to make it on thier own. As difficult as it is to work while dealing with CH, we must put out every effort. My comments may sound stern, and will remain so in our correspondence. I will not lie to you and expect the same. If we can agree to this, E-mail me and we'll get to work on this. Dave |

Title: Re: Disability Post by Karla on Oct 3rd, 2003, 7:01pm I am on disability for cluster headaches and depression. I emphasized that I couldn't focus, had poor attention span, couldn't concentrate, couldn't remember things, spent aprox 5 days in ER every month. I missed many days from work plus when I was at work I really wasn't there because I was in the bathroom banging my head and having problems with sound sensativity. Just in to much pain to do anything. I feel suicidal and depressed because of these headaches and am on antidepressent. I mentioned pages and pages of stuff but that was the main focus of the paperwork. I got approved first time in less than 6 months. |

Title: Re: Disability Post by Mikey on Oct 3rd, 2003, 9:46pm I was approved the first time around in less than three months! They do most of this based on your medical records, what you have to say, and your prescriptions. Mikey, ;D |
