Title: Help
Post by jak246 on Oct 2nd, 2003, 2:12pm
I am 35 years old and have had headaches since very small. I recently visited my G P only to be told I had sinusitis and I should relax and do flower arranging. I have been to the G P on numerous occations for the same problem. On one occation cluster headaches was mentioned and after reading stories on this site I defenately fit the catagory, although my G P never mentioned any treatments for it. I am allergic to aspirin so I am limited to what painkillers I can take, and end up constantly taking co codomol and paracetamals which don,t touch it. I,m sure my family think I am addicted to painkillers some weeks, and I am sure they think it is really abnormal to have so many headaches. Can anyone help. Thank you.

First of all get away from those narcs and go here:
http://www.maplefallswebdesign.com/misc/oxygen/oxygen.htm

and then go here:
http://www.clusterbusters.com/

and then read all of the other info. on this site. There are alternatives to narcotics and they work much better.
good luck and pfdan's to you,

Jim

Sinusitis huh?

We've all been there. And to the dentist. Then to the eye doc.

Your GP sounds as if he has no clue about clusters and won't admit it. Try to get an appointment with a neurologist that is familiar with clusters.

And please stay away from the painkillers. They will not help with a cluster attack.

Welcome to the board jak,
Have a look at the links
here (http://www.clusterheadaches.org/library/general/index.htm)
and
here (http://www.clusterheadaches.org/medications.htm)
and
here (http://www.clusterheadaches.org/resources/non_script_treat.htm)
and get thee to a Neurologist. Remember, knowledge is power when you have such a rare disease.

And get away from the narcotics, they rarely help CH.

Good Luck,
Mark

Oddly enough, I was diagnosed with CH by a physician's assistant the first time I was seen for HAs.  He just had no idea what to do for me.  Oh well, that's about the only thing that went right until now.   ;D
