Title: Hot Bath
Post by EBRisky on Sep 19th, 2003, 5:08pm
Thought I would share something that helped me this morning. While having a CH, albiet a mild one, I tried a very hot bath. I got the water as hot as I could stand it and got in the tub. I then I put my head under the water leaving my mouth and nose breaking the surface. It really seemed to help. I hope this might help someone else.  :)

EBRisky,

It's funny - I've found that when I'm in cycle hot water (heat in general) can be a trigger for me, and that cold (water/air) actually helps.

Folks - what about the rest of you?

Chris

Yes, i do the same. Very HOT bath, and i hang my legs out of the tub. Kind of connects the Charlie think about getting the blood somewhere other than your head. Anyways, it helps me a lot. Then when i get out of the tub, will use a Ice pack on my head.

Sometimes hot water in the shower on my head and sometimes ice packs over my eye with a headband holding them on. Sometimes NOTHING works but it gives me soemthing to do.

O2 helps with an ice pack over the eye sometimes. It's all a crap shoot.

Whatever works at the time DO IT....

I've triggered big time h/a's in hot tubs and won't go near them anymore  :(
When it comes to ch's, I prefer the cold over heat.
Like everything else with the beast, different strokes...

Extreme hot good/ cold bad.

I tend to flash hot and immediately flash cold right before I  get hit. So I go for a hot towel for the back of my neck and right eye.

Cold seems to make it worse unless its extreme like being outside in the dead of winter, but I can't take much of that either, not enough insulation on my meager bones.

Cold has always been my friend....yesterday in that rest stop I was sucking on the AC vent from my truck cause it was all I had and it seem to make it worse. When I got out of the truck into the heat and rain it seem to help just alittle (we all know how much "Just alittle" helps)

Not sure why the AC cold didnt help...it always has before...maybe since I was half doseing my meds the beast was that much stronger......cause I have not felt pain that bad in 13 years.

I vote for the hot.

Jonny, sorry to hear you are getting hit so bad.  Perhaps you have confused the beast and that's why you like it hot rather than cold now.

I use to use Hot cloths on my face. My whole side of my head hurt from the eye down. I have had headaches all my life and hot cloths would help. When I got Clusters the whole one side of my nose hurt along with the side of my face and eye. I used hot water thinking it would help, cause I thought it was sinus. People use to tell me to try ice. The thought of ice on my face just did not apeal to me.
One night in the ER a nurse got some ice and was going to put it on my face. I begged Buddy and her not to put that ice on my face I just knew it would make things worst. It didn't it helped. I found out by experminting that the Hot Water seem to take the pain down, but they were right back and they seem to last longer. With the ice they seemed to stay away longer. The pain went away faster.
Its confusing to me about cold, cause Buddy use to think it was air condition that set mine off. Yet it could be snowing outside and when I get hit the first thing I want to do in the winter is go outside. I don't even feel the cold. I am really cold natured to. The colder it is the better I am when it comes to my clusters.

heat and rem sleep are the only triggers I can find.
I cannot take ONE hot bath during my cycle...guaranteed trigger...even 2 hours later.

cold is my friend, but not freezing.

Cold for as long as you can stand it. It's like the circulatory technique. My guess is that it affects circulation which triggers some process that has worked well for me.
