Title: Ladies and Gents, I am pleased to announce... Post by Carl_D on Sep 19th, 2003, 3:26am O.U.C.H.Fest '03 Sunday December 7th, 2003 at City Limits - 2206 Fosterburg Rd, Alton IL The bands will start at 5pm, and there will be raffles throughout the night. Five bands for Five bucks. I really wanted to do it on a Saturday, but Greg said he is booked through eternity on Friday and Saturday gigs; so we decided to have it on a Sunday. I hope that this benefit concert will be a success and if so, then I will start planning O.U.C.H.Fest '04. This week I will be soliciting for items to be donated for the raffle giveaways, and trying to tie up other loose ends, maybe even find a couple of sponsers that I can run by the BoD and get thier take on it. If anybody has any ideas, big or small, feel free to email me. ARTISTS!!!! We need someone to create a banner for the stage behind the bands that will have the O.U.C.H. logo on it. Anyone who would like to donate thier time and effort on this project would be greatly appreciated. I have the 2 nearest hotels and info below. Everybody will be responsible for thier own accomodations, so plan ahead. We are making flyers this week and plastering them all over, and I will work on local advertising too. Doc suggested we try TV news media close to the date of the event, and I am contacting a buddy of mine to see what we have to do to get a :30 second radio ad. I'm crossing my fingers, but I think we can pull this off. Anyway, as I get new info, I will post it here. The bands and event coordinators will not be providing alcohol. The choice is up to the individual. As far as items for the raffle, I am gonna try and get stuff that people WANT to win. Anyone think it is possible to get GlaxSmithKline to donate like a month of Imitrex injections as a starter prize? Just thinking outloud. Our goal for this event is two-fold; to raise money for OUCH and to raise awareness of Cluster Headaches. I will not lie - when our band hits the stage close to the end of the night, we might scare off some of the older folks (hence why we are going on 2nd to last), and PowerTrip will definitely scare the rest of the people there. It is for a good cause - unless of course someone thinks we don't have a reason to make some noise. I have 16 years of reasons. One thing though: this is taking place in a nightclub, so the audience will be 21 and over. We are making the flyers this week, and hopefully getting some OUCH brochures in the mail that we can use to promote the event. One item I want to obtain as a prize is a DVD player, and for 2 bucks a ticket, I'm sure some people would be interested in that for a raffle. I am going to contact a couple of local music stores in the area to see if they would like to help sponsor the event, but before anything is etched in stone, it will be ran by the OUCH BoD's first. Some people may frown on the event taking place in a nightclub. As Don Corleone would say, "Don't ask questions, just take the money!" Peace, Carl D |
