Title: when to stop O2
Post by gmlevenhagen on Sep 18th, 2003, 3:02pm
I finally got my O2  :) :) :) :)

Not only is that great, but it relieved my attack last night :) :) :) :)

I do have a question though, I felt relife after about 8 or so min.
can I stop using when the CH stops or do I need to keep it up the full 15-20 min.

Any help here would be great , and help me save on O2 if I can stop when the CH stops.

Wait 5 mins after the pain stops to quit the 02...that way you know it wont be right back.

Gena.....

When in doubt....keep huffing canned air. If your not sure, huff some more. When you've squelched the Roach, huff some more.  Any time you feel nervous...huff some more. Just make sure you put enought _glue_ in the rebreather bag.........

I STILL haven't got my damn O2!  Ok, so when I do...how many attacks is a H tank good for? (roughly)

jonny's right. (that shouldn't surprise! LOL) that extra 5 min is worth it.

I get close to 40 hits out of an H tank.  When it gets down to 500 psi GET A NEW TANK.  It won't last long after that - there will still be 300-400 psi and you can't get the required flow.

Breathe deep and be pain free :D :D

Ok, I was finally set up with O2 ... It is a tank that is 4 or 5 feet tall.  I was told that it holds enough O2 to giva about 7 hours of usage at 10 LPM.

I have heard that you should only use it for 15 to 20 minutes at a time.  If it does not stop the hit, how long should I wait before sucking up again?  Sometimes I get hits that last over two hours.  If it does not work in the beginning, if I wait 20 minutes, or so, should I try it again?

So far it is working about 50% of the time.  That is better than it was.  For a couple years, it did not work at all.  Because of this, I don't think any of us should give up on O2 (as I had done) just because it stopped working.  It may start working again, as it did for me.

For those that are having trouble getting the insurance to pay for it, my whole setup only cost me $18.00.  That, almost all of us can pay for.  Don't wait for the insurance, pay for it so you can get the O2, and then continue your fight with the insurance company.
