Title: Poll: What's the longest you've stayed awake ? Post by UnsolvedEquation on Sep 18th, 2003, 12:38am During my trial of Keppra ... and after about a dozen nightmares...I was scared to death of falling asleep. It was like that movie "Nightmare on Elm Street"...I stayed awake for 7 straight days ! (then ended up in the hospital again :( ) I have NO PROBLEM staying awake for a couple of days right now. I asked a doc if that was normal ... and he said with CH , yes. SO what about you all ? |

Always get mine during morning or late afternoon. I know this is not the norm for ch....but what's normal about these things. ??? |

Post by Hooter on Sep 18th, 2003, 7:29am Even before CH I was a weird sleeper, not insomniac but was and still am prone to staying awake for two days. Used to do shiftwork so I'm very good at dealing with lack of sleep. Most weeks, even out of cycle I go without sleep for one night (I get loads done when all the world and my 4 year old are aleep) There was a previous thread that suggested that Ch sufferers commonly had very odd sleeping patterns PRIOR to CH, and this may be some link to the deformed hypothalamus stuff. Your body and mind are are already in shambles due to the beast and depriving yourself only make things worse, not to mention harder to handle. I always (when in a cycle) have one LARGE tank of 02 in my closet and 3 or 4 smaller tanks about the house. One of those tanks sits right next to my pillow just in case (used to be always, but that has changed due to shrooms) I would get hit. Slam on the 02 and slap an ice cold washcloth on your head and you will be back to snoozen in no time. No, it will not work for everyone but will not hurt to try. jmin |

Thought if I stayed up, that bastard wouldn't be able to get me. My visits are always 1 - 2 hours after I go to sleep. But when I did go to sleep.........there he was !!!!!! ??? Post by jonny on Sep 18th, 2003, 1:58pm 13 days 18 hours and 22 mins During this time I was wearing one of those grass hula skirts and a coconut bra, Was wading ankle deep in a cool pond looking for bullfrogs to throw against trees when all of a sudden I hear this scream followed by a swoooshing sound...as I turned I see one of those circus midgets swinging towards my on a vine wearing a loin cloth like a little tarzan. before he could get to me I grabbed a purple bullfrog and nailed him in his exposed yambag which made him let go of the vine and crash into me, as I pulled myself up out of the water I looked and little tarzan was standing waist deep holding one of those huge cardboard lottery checks that read "100 Million".........so I hugged him and gave him a ride on my back all the way to the village were we watched Tony Orlando and Dawn preform a kickass set. Then my alarm went off...Fuckin Bummer!!!...just a damn dream ;D ..........................jonny 8) |

Prior too, and even now, I normally go to bed around 2:00am, and wake at 6:00am... ... and correct me if I'm wrong, won't a person actually die from a brain shutdown if you don't get enough sleep?... I woke up at 6:00 am on Friday and did not actually lay down again until 5:22 pm on Sunday ONE WEEK AND TWO DAYS LATER!!! SO.... 9 days 11 hours and 22 minutes (I did doze once while standing up in the shower...and one other time while "in the can" - but don't tell anyone! ;)) |
