Title: A warning.... Post by nancyc on Sep 17th, 2003, 10:30am to remind you all how our cluster meds can screw us up bigtime...I have been waking up with both my arms numb....completely numb and cold....I have been sleeping with gloves on....My neuro was out of town....I thought I had some major Vascular disease...Well, I just talked to his office and one of the nurses there was on Topamax for a year...after a year on it , she started having the same thing...but she could not walk....It was the topamax....I have been taken off of it now...Keep your fingers crossed cause this med really helped me but it is really dangerous....She said he may put me back on it next week when he sees me but will add other meds with it...Alot of these cluster meds scare me to death....I hate the side effects.....Now, I will be wearing gloves to work and to bed for a few days till this stuff gets out of my system...smiles,nancyc Ps I will be The only nurse imitating Michael Jackson LOL |

Last time you found another excuse for not taking the Topamax when it was helping you....LOL!!!! Hey, maybe that's why I wear sweatshirts to the beach - ya think? I take Trazadone 50mg along with the Topamax and don't have any side effects that I can tell. I've been on it since 1999. One time when I had to raise the dosage to 400mg a day I did get a little depressed (ok so I was suicidal), but Nancy caught it and told me to cut the dosage down - I did and everything went back to normal. Haven't raised it to above 200mg since. I still swear by it. But Nancy, don't worry, we'll warm you up in FL in just a few weeks. Donna has our pink blow up thingy waiting. Hugs BD |

Felt stupid, lost hair, couldn't type anymore >:( Wasn't even helping tame the beast so I quit...thank goodness. Hope it helps you (stopping) |

Post by Ree on Sep 17th, 2003, 7:10pm Nanycy~~ I had an advertisement for Imatrex recently and noticed that you shouldnt take Imatrex if you have Raynauds syndrome... well this is news to me because I have that and no one ever said that I shouldnt use imatrex for that reason before... Why are you wearing gloves is it because your hands are cold??? maybe you have raynauds... I dont know where the raynauds came from on me either... that is a disease for smokers and peeps with circulatory problems. But I do use imatrex and that is something we have in common... weird... hope you are ok. keep us posted about this... I couldn't even help my kid with his fourth grade math at the time. DUUU ! And two months before I was in college taking 3 math classes, symbolic logic, economics, and computer programming ! I couldn't have done any of it while on Topomax ... I couldn't even spell Topomax ??? Glad i'm off that dumb drug ! |

Post by nancyc on Sep 17th, 2003, 11:07pm NA NA NA NA NA NA to all my Wise clusterbuds that replied LMAO....FIrst of all, I can moondance...yep, i am wearing gloves to bed cause my hands are freezing...I had already cut down from 150mg to 50mg so I just stopped taking it...atleast until monday when he will put me back on it along with Potassium and some other meds..said my electrolytes are screwed up....Probably cause I miss that Black and Decker Blenda so bad, DON LOL...As far as you, Barb D, we will talk about that wimp thing in FLorida LOL...I have you know I have been on Topamax for almost a year this time and have not whined about it one time until now LOL.....And Ree, enjoyed our talk the other nite too....Thanks for the laughs guys...Smiles,nancyc PS Barb D, why dont you tell everyone about the nite at the casino driving back to Texas on Topamax? The meds are a bitch, even the verap and O2 make me chilly. I suppose if my kids would leave me something to eat after I get done cooking dinner my electrolytes would be more in line. dang it.........refuse the TOPO if it makes you feel that bad, and find a good shroom salesman.
