Title: Hit bad last night
Post by gmlevenhagen on Sep 17th, 2003, 9:13am
Had a new one last night, the beast changed flavors on me :o.
This one started as usual behind my right ear  and then spread like a fan to my eye, nose and mouth area with in 5 min, because I still have not O2, I took a few decongestent , rub on the icey/hot and went to my room to pace. Just when I thought I could  nolonger stand it , I got a little suprise. I am not quite sure how to explaine it, it was lick a muscle spasum that came in a wave over and over. After about 20 min of that a percing pain ( I sware it was my brain exploding) so fast and hard I saw spots hit me, and then it was gone. It was the worst one yet  as far as the pain goes but only lasted about  45min  total. Now today I keep getting shadows that  are lasting about 15 min each with one muscle spasum at the end.
:'(

Can't we just cut the right side of my brain out  ;) I have heard of people living with only hafe a brain ;D

My wife claims I've been with only half a brain for years, and the evil clown still chews on that half.  I'm sorry to hear the intesity has picked up.  Get yourself O2!  It is a miracle!

PFDAN...

I was told to day that I have CH. Water and O2 is what my Dr. is giving me.

Ms. levenhagen,
It's a great thing that your Doc recognizes the effectiveness of O2 in aborting CH's. Hope you get the delivery fiasco straightened out , and can start huffing canned air with the rest of us.
Unless you have some other, underlying, major health issues, you need to get on some preventative meds. There's plenty of them out there.......talk your Doc into starting you on Verapamil.....and if that's ineffective, begin working your way up (or down) the rest of the preventative cocktails.
Ask for Imitrex nasal's as well....along with O2, you can abort most CH's pretty well. If the nasal Trex doesn't work, there's always the injectible. There are also numerous other Triptans available that are quite effective.
You've already been at this for 12 years..........and odds are, you'll be at it another couple dozen years. Take a hard look into what meds will work for you..........both for this bout, and the cycles that await down the road.
Don't forget to look at Alternative Therapy (http://clusterbusters.com) as well. Whatever it takes, eh?

Better living thru chemicals,
RJ

My doc said that the preventitives can have a lot of side effects, She would like me to do the water and O2 thing for a month first :o
Of course in order for that to work I have to actually get the O2 ::)
Imatrex - pill and nazel did not help much after a few time it gave me really bad rebounds - I know this from when they were treating me for migrains.
