:)
I have trouble sleeping, and I know it's because when I get "hit", it's at night, always around 2:30-3:30 a.m.  I have tried to not even go to bed. But that makes for a hard day when the sun comes up.
I actually have been pf the last 8 days, due I am sure to a Prednisone taper. But in a few more days this taper is gonna be over, and I am already anticipating the end result. I will say that there is something about lying flat in the bed that bothers me. Seems each time I lay down, I feel just a "hint" of a shadow, or some kind of slight pressure feeling. I have slept on the sofa for the last several nites.  I am able to be in a more upright position, therefore not getting that shadow or pressure.  Honestly, what time I do sleep, has been good quality sleep. Guess maybe that is just another of those "remedies" that seem to work for me.

Sure hope you can get some sleep, knowing that any sleep is better than none. It's tough, not knowing if the lack of sleep may just aggravate all of this. However, I know that the "beast" is no respecter of persons. I have tried many times to fool "him", but when I refused to go to bed and sleep.....he just came at a later time. Damned if ya do....and damned if ya don't !!    :-/

Sending lotz of pf vibes your way                   :)

Dave is finally sleeping thank God.  Now his old complaints are poppin through like the reflux problem that he has.  Now that is waking him up instead of the CH attacks.   Have you tried melatonin or dramamine?  Benadryl also works to take away your REM sleep and give you less of a chance for a ch attack.  Only thing is we need some REM and I am not positive how long you can do this for... Good luck and try to catch a power nap when you dont feel the Beast lurking... ree

I used to have trouble sleeping during a cycle due to the big kip hitting HARD right when you get to the REM stage.

WIth the shroom treatment, IF I even woke up with one, I was able to smack that B*tch right out with 5 minutes of O2.

Having been on both sides of this fence I can tell you for sure two observations of mine.

1. Sleep depravation brings on depression.
2. Sleep depravation makes dealing with the bad ones expedentially more difficult then when well rested.

Hell, add a week of good sleep into the mix of a normal cycle and it makes the damn thing 10 times easier to cope with.

I've never had much success with it but a lot of people here say that taking Dramamine before bed will help you get to sleep.

I agree with most ... "WHAT SLEEP ? "
Doctors at MHNI have just prescribed Meletonin for me. It is said to help regulate the sleep cycle. Might be worth looking into .

I am a chronic insomniac, so bad that I take elephant knock out pills that barely phase me, and when I take my sleep meds and don't sleep, I look and feel like I just came out of Night of the Living Dead.
Been an insomniac since age 10, and it just gets worse as I get older.

Peace,

I don't get hit at night, but my last episode still screwed up my sleep cycle.  I'm normally a night owl anyway, am happy to be in bed by 1:00 AM, can be up til 3:00 AM.

But during episode, I stayed up past 5:30 AM about 2 nights per week with 3:00 AM the rest of the time.

I routinely take Valerian before bed--OTC herb with effects like Valium.  I was taking Melatonin during cycle, but it gives me restless legs as does Benadryl.

I've been PF for about six weeks now and haven't had a single 5:30 AM night.

I agree that getting enough sleep makes a huge difference.  After my cycle ended, I slept late for about 2 weeks.  My mood improved and my skin cleared up.  Now if I could just get rid of these dark circles under my eyes.

This might sound crazy, But i actually thought about intentionally waking myself up every 1 hour. Every night when i went to sleep, the beast would hit me almost exactly 1 1/2 hours after i closed my eyes. I never did try it because i was able to get my cycle under control.

PF now, Patrick
